Time to study some ymfah videos for cheese strats.

Honestly I've never been one for looking up walkthroughs/builds for games. I think it's perfectly valid for folks who want to, but since I get basically the same experience from watching or playing a game, if I watch strategy/build vids for builds/strategies I'm interested in, seeing the outcome kinda makes it unnecessary for me to actually play the game. :D

I have what I call a Death Wolf build. Uses the Deathrite Weapons, and Death spells along with the Thorn spells. Str / Int with the Faith required for the Briars of Sin and Punishment! It's great fun! Ancient Death Rancor, , Rykard's Rancor, and Ghostflame Explosion are great fun!

You don't just win in Elden Ring lol, you just do a little better each time.
At least the combat on horse is kinda broken, and the open world factor allows you to kill minor bosses from the distance like a clever coward :p

I've never played Elden Ring. However, I love Hollow Knight! Do you think I would like this game too, Jeeves?

I feel like it's difficult to compare the two, beyond them both being renowned as incredibly good and full of that "souls-like" combat loop of try-die-learn-retry. The fact that Elden Ring is 3D and open world makes the 'feel' of the game vastly different from a 2D platformer/metroidvania like Hollow Knight. Not better or worse, just incredibly different. So, if what you like about Hollow Knight is the depth and tone of the world, the atmosphere of the different locations, and the overall gameplay loop, I'd say you should give Elden Ring a shot, yeah! But if the part of Hollow Knight you like is the speed of combat (while Elden Ring combat can be fast paced depending on your playstyle, the enemies are often much bigger, chunkier and slow moving compared to the more 'bullet-hell' like elements you get in parts of Hollow Knight), and the 2D elements of the world and level design, it might be better to look at other metroidvania style games rather than Elden Ring.

That being said, if it's not as a comparison to Hollow Knight but just "do I think Elden Ring is a game worth trying?" hell yeah I do. I just don't want to give you the impression that just because ER and HK are both incredible games known for their difficult boss battles and cool lore/worldbuilding, they're a perfect match for all players. :)

This occurred to me just after posting the first comment, but if you've played Breath of the Wild, that's almost a better comparison for how Elden Ring 'feels' to play in terms of its open world. So, take BotW, add in the intricacy of the worldbuilding and the difficulty of the combat from Hollow Knight, and maybe that's a rough approximation of what you might be able to expect from Elden Ring.
