Can I just say....dammit, I LIKED it? :D
I cant stress enough how much of an UN-fan i am of animal exploitation films because hardly any of them end well for the animals. But....dammit....
Heres the story: a nincompoop drug entrepreneur in the 1980s fell to his death when the chute didnt open after he tried to leave a plane... this much of the story is TRUE.... i actually remember Dan Rather reporting it on the Evening News and all the while trying to keep a straight face. the man was found with a great big stash of cocaine too... street value in the millions... anyway...
Enter director Elizabeth Banks.... yep, the Hunger Games bitch, Wildstyle from "The Lego Movie", yeah THAT lady. :D and she poses the question: what if a bear got a hold of that stash of cocaine and went wild on the general populace..........................
as laughingly stupid and mind-melting as the plot is..... dammit.....
it works!
the movie revolves around this group of the craziest people, a no-nonsense detective, a large, gun-toting lady deputy, a spoiled brat of a teenager and her friend, a bunch of hilarious and absolutely stupid henchmen working for a derelict and evil drug dealer... the entire cast needs to seriously be given credit, they were GOOD... (and sadly Ray Liotta's last film) they gave us JUST the right amount of 1980s feelings, dialogue and sass... and so much humor, enough to make me LOL at times....
and the bear? HELL of a job with the CGI... i mean, REALLY well done.... i dunno if there was ever truly a bear used in this film, but youd never be able to tell with the amount of SFX they did...
Story moves kinda slow but i understood why as they were fleshing out all the characters and the plot points.... and everyone was playing it straight... think a "Sharknado"-ish sort of vibe.... but the shark is a cocaine-loving bear. :D
Anyway............. can i just say, it was worth seeing.....?
I'm so going to Hell......
7/10 :D

FA+

There wasn't any 'what if' about it.
It actually happened, and as one would expect, OD ensued.
Waiting for that sequel that takes place in the sewers of New York...."Crack Rats".
it could work.
That could be full of true stories.
Just crazy for other reasons :D
She covers cocaine bear and other movies starring bears.
Damn they did a great job. :D
