Hey everybody, it's Jam!
Hey all, Monkey-Scientist here. Thought I'd give some updates here! Taking a break from buying comms, first of all. I'm not in financial trouble or anything, I'm fine. However, I find I just spend too much on comms at times. And honestly I realize that I kind of had an addiction to it for a while. I love getting comms and supporting the artists who need the money. At the same time though, I need to go back to saving up a lot for when I eventually do finally move out and live on my own, due to this economic recession we find ourselves in right now. On top of this, I have A LOT of unposted comms that only have only been shared on Twitter. I'm talking many gigabytes worth of art that I love and feel needs to be seen. And I have so much that's it taking years to post this stuff.
Also, come July 1st I will be reopening for writing comms myself. Just be warned the prices will be higher, but they're still in CAD. I do get they'll be a bit much for many people, but at the same time you gotta factor in inflation (not the sexy kind lol) and all that. On top of this, want to apologies for the lack of stories in general. It's been a busy year, I've been in a documentary, gone to parties, saw some movies in theaters, did a comic con, etc. Plus I just get slack sometimes, but trust me I got some amazing stuff on the horizon!

I try to be very selective about the art I get especially these days, as I have less money to go around, things are more expensive, I feel like artists prices are averaging higher than they used to, which I entirely support though of course it requires me to be more circumspect about what I commission. No more random art, it all kind of has to have a purpose.

YEah I get that, the prices can be excessive. And I have a tendency to tip higher than I should when they underprice. While I can afford to buy lots of comms and never break the bank, I really shouldn't and should go back to saving up tons lol

It's all about moderation. It's great to support artists and furry art and such, but one must not go nuts, hehe. :)

Yeah true and I used to be good at moderation lol. But considering how I'm taking a break from comms until October (apart from the couple I'm on the list for right now XD) gonna be moderating good again. :)

Maybe it would help if you limited yourself to X number of comms or a budget amount and you don't go over it. Commissions are great but money is also good to have on hand.

Oh I'm not hurting for cash, but I do agree and I had been good at that limit for the longest time and I plan to go back to said limit or limit comms to once or twice a month.
