My big fear (yes, regarding the rule 'update')

Okay, I need to get this off my chest before I blow up somehow, and even then it'll only alleviate things a little bit.
I may not be in danger of these rules, but darn it, I am seeing how others are reacting to such so far. Some folks saying that they've been hit in the past despite the content passing muster, or that some folks were fine with one moderator, but another yeets em because they viewed otherwise...
I'll make it brief: I don't have anywhere else to go and I don't want people fleeing this site.
This place was the only site I've seen who's even remotely of accepting the kinds of characters I liked and had drawn by a SLEW of folks (as seen in one of my journals, even!). I keep track of loads of artists, revisit most and even constantly discover new ones, but if this site ends up driving people away, where the hell am I supposed to go?
I refuse to use Twitter, and not because of current escapades of the Muskrat, but I'd rather not be forced to go to another platform I had no interest in using in the first place.
I know this place in general has always been 'eh' to 'meh' on humanoid creations with only a few animal features, but darn it, with the amount of commissions I got, it seemed things would be fine for me to stick around, as I've gotten to know quite a few nice folks here, and had seldem any problems.
But really, I'm panicking not due to the rules, but how people are reacting and some even wanting to literally head for the hills.
It's insanely distressing as hell to me to see people run off (and some possibly even without a word) and makes it very hard to look for again.
And if other crazy things happens to this site...then I don't know what to do, really.
I can't exactly take my characters to display to another place, as I already had arguments about what counts as "furry" in the past (and I've had people on this site call my creatures "not furry," but then I go to another place and other folks would call them "furry", among other crap).
I don't want to see this place going down in flames, as I really wouldn't know what else to do otherwise.

- twitter does dumb stuff
- loud minority/furgeoiserie calls for revolution and says they're moving over to elephant/pillowfort
- vast majority of the fandom population can't be bothered to set up a brand new social network and leave the convenience of Twitter
- smaller artists set up accounts in the hope of beating the big names to the starting line but realise they'll never get the same push because of lacking population, drop the new network
- loud minority realises they don't get massive banger posts on new social network because of lacking population, and quietly walks back to twitter
Either you'd need a social network to run out of trend ( like facebook bleeding users for its old image) which barely applies to FA because of how specialized it is, or you'd need a BEHEMOTH of a regulation to sink down any current network ( eg : banning all nsfw ) to really kill it, and now that everyone has seen how it went for Tumblr, no one would attempt it.
and FA's new rule is nowhere near a rule of this caliber, so it's safe to assume the vast majority will not give up FA, and the few loud mouthes that are vocal about leaving FA will come back in 2 weeks hoping no one asks them about their rebelious moment
