I've been wanting to do that myself, can I ask how you did it? Hosting/design software I mean

if you wanna do it in the most amatuerist way possible, just download apache, port forward your ip address, and make ur own html webpages

its probably not smart from a security point of view and is only online as long as your computer is on, but its what I do whenever I wanna do cool stuff.

I did mine with Hostinger, which lets you use Wordpress sites!

I can't remember the exact cost (so it was something pretty negligible) but I used Hostinger! They allow NSFW and also have Wordpress integration

Hosting their own website is something all content creators should do. Big business hosting platforms HAVE BEEN archaic and authoritative for years and its nice to see people finally branching off and decentralizing again.

There are folks who are trying to make this sort of thing easier for folks who aren't professional web devs. I don't know if they've succeeded, but I hope you'll be okay with me dropping a couple of links.

A big part of it for them is to let people make a website they own, that can communicate with all the different social media stuff if you want it to. So, you can post stuff on your website and it automatically posts it on all the things, but also it grabs all of the comments and things others leave on those sites and brings them to you, and lets you reply on your site and send it where they are.

It's not perfect but they do have stuff to make that happen, and not everybody knows that's even an option.

It's sorta like Mastodon for pictures. They both work on the Fediverse. That said, the same indieweb stuff I linked earlier can push and pull to and from the Fediverse.
