Migration Confusion

I'm eternally confused seeing people leaving here for Twitter...citing mature art? Like... Do y'all not see how increasingly hostile Twitter is becoming for furry in general, much less mature? It doesn't have a media gallery of any kind, making looking at your past uploads a chore.
I'm not saying to move to a Pixelfed or a Mastodon server specifically, but those two at least actually have galleries for media. It's far far more active now than it once was, so if it's users, you'll find many many there.
But I for real dun care if it's Co-host or Itaku or Weasyl or SoFurry or even elsewhere.
Just not Twitter. The like-to-engagement ratio is worse than FA and it's just actively getting worse, especially with their head wanting to strip blocking features.
If you DO want to give the fediverse a shot using Blimps, hit myself or
austindern or
darkoverord or another friend already using it up for an invite link. I like to think our notification sound is pretty fun, and lots of nice folks locally and the entire furry fediverse abroad too. But again, my goal isn't pressuring folks to Mastodon. It's requesting them go anywhere besides Twitter.
And InkBunny cause like, if you're trying to claim you're leaving FA cause of cub stuff being aimed at non-cub and go to IB...you're not exactly supporting your own claims.

FA+

At least Mastodon UI has a media tab that's square gallery preview tiles, and Pixelfed is an actual gallery-like site anyway.
I couldn't agree more about that. There are literally several better options out there, why go to twitter specifically? The sad thing is that I follow several friends/artists who use twitter exclusively, and it's made it next to impossible to stop using it altogether when that's the only way I can see their posts. (After lots of scrolling... >.>)
Also hard agree on the lunacy of choosing IB to avoid cub stuff. Sure, it has a blacklist feature, but that's ignoring the fact that they outright support it, and have for roughly a decade now. :/ I'll admit that I made an account on there weeks after the site first went live, and was hoping it would become an FA killer at the time. That was before all the cub artists moved there in a mass exodus after being banned on FA. Now it has that stigma attached to it, and probably will for the rest of that site's lifespan...
"FA's outdated."
"Well, we got a site here that's more up to date on things."
"Eeeeeh...."
"Hey guys, we're Twitter!"
"I'm Tumblr! I'm like if Twitter and dA had a baby that inherited every negative trait!"
"SIGN ME THE UP!"
Granted, the 2.7 policy change makes it more understandable to have a reason move to a different platform, but whatever issues one has with FA, twitter will have tenfold.
As for mastodon, it's simply not a replacement. Even outside of the numbers and the lack of more global users, it's Furnet Social Media in all the worst ways.
That's also ignoring being able to interact with audiences who just don't have as much of an FA presence as they do Twitter, like the Japanese furry space, who lean more towards their own gallery sites like Pixiv.

Not to mention how fragmented and unstable the Fediverse can be. Some people want that silo where they can just talk with people, instead of trying to figure out what servers can talk with what other servers, or worrying that the content they want to interact with might suddenly become inaccessible. Past incidents with some Masto servers straight-up hard-blocking any Pleroma instance comes to mind (and is why I stopped running my own private instance). Not to mention the number of fediverse servers that *have* to block Japanese servers due to media content laws in their own countries.
Like... I'm on the Fediverse (I'm on Blimpstodon, and I thank you for that Kay!), but I've also come to realize just how stressful it is to deal with how much it can change from one moment to the next. Especially when news of servers dropping off the map comes up, like with vulpine.club's upcoming shutdown. People don't wanna worry about having to pack up and partially start all over if the place comes apart, or if their instance suddenly gets defederated over drama or abuse.
The Fediverse is a constant scary unknown, while Twitter has its history of being somewhat stable. That inertia is going to be really difficult to get past with all of the uncertainties that comes with the Fediverse as a whole.
I don't get people at all
I heard of Itaku last night, didn't know what it is.
