Commission queue refunds!
Short journal but I just wanted to update ya'll! Mainly commissioners, but also just in general since this will likely affect my art output in the future.
After thinking over what I have left in my commission queue from 2020 when I was unemployed and had to take on a ton of commissions, I've decided that for the handful of pieces I have left I'll be doing refunds!
This does NOT include the 3 reference sheets I am currently working on (one being for an adoptable I sold during that timeframe), I still 100% plan on completing those, but those will be the final commissions in my queue. The chibi commissions, talksprite, and 1 other ref sheet (commissioner went MIA) will all be refunded. I'm staggering my refunds so as not to too heavily impact me financially, but I'll be trying to refund at least 1 commission each paycheck.
I hate that it's taken me so long to finish everything in my queue, but a big contributor to that happening (aside from the 5 months my computer was broken) is simply the fact that I had so many commissions all at once. I got a good amount completed in a reasonable time, but working on those meant other pieces didn't get worked on until much later, and that time really adds up. Couple all that with my irl full time job and chores, and it just made this wait time unreasonably long. I'm already a very slow artist as it is, which is why ideally I would only like to take 2-3 commissions at a time, but my circumstances in 2020 didn't allow for that since I was unemployed and had a spouse who was unwilling to give me any support while I searched for a job like I did when they were unemployed.
Anyways, once refunds are given, and my 3 ref sheet commissions are done, I still plan on completing the giveaway prizes that I owe! These however will be done at a more leisurely pace since I don't want to handle them as if they're commissions.
I'll be working on personal pieces in between the giveaway art so yall can finally expect to have some art of MY OWN characters!!!!! :D I'm also participating in artfight this year, so yall can probably expect some uploads here from that, for any furry character art that I happen to do.
So, things are getting hopeful! I just realized I was really starting to spiral mentally, despite being on the last handful of commissions left. Mainly because the more I thought about it the more I realized I probably wouldn't get them all done before the year ends, and that thought absolutely pushed me over the edge since I am ready to have some personal freedom again and I dont think I can handle another full year working on this queue and being unable to enjoy anything else outside of my irl job and my side job as an artist.
Again, I am SO grateful for the patience my commissioners have shown me. I hate that it's taken so long, but hopefully I never have to be in that situation again and can take on commissions again in the future at a more reasonable pace to avoid a repeat of this happening.
