When I first joined FA, my avatar was simply my Gravatar, since I really was more active commenting on other people's webcomics than anything else. My gravatar would change frequently, but my FA avatar would remain the same, I thought.
I knew the image I had chosen was temporary, and when I realized my gravatar wasn't going to cut it for the Freefall forums, I made a new one and made that my avatar here. It showed, I hope, that I was cool in every sense of the word.
Of course, the main problem with this avatar was that it showed me as a media content consumer, not producer. A fan, not a creator. So when I had to make a new image of me that showed me as an artist, I thought "this is it! This is my forever avatar! I can use this everywhere and it will feel like me!" It also brings me back to my roots meaning I've come full circle!
But this avatar had a problem: it was pushy. It was aggressive. It deliberately tried to get noticed ...which is the antithesis of my character (mice hide from predators, they don't go wave in their faces!) but most of all, it didn't go with the comments I was writing. You can't go "d'aww" and have a pushy avatar, because then it looks like you're screaming that "aww" out!
So, for now, my avatar is going to be my "happy" gravatar (originally devised in 2010) which I think fits my (for want of a better word) commenting style more.
