So, Twitter has decided that I should get my content withheld in Indonesia upon request from their government due to homophobic/puritanical "propriety" laws. By complying with that withholding request they also slapped my account with a global mute of sorts. It's not a full mute since people can still see my posts show up on the timeline, like/rt/reply them and all that, but they get no notifications if I like/rt/reply to any of their posts. Somebody posts a nice reply to something and I reply back? They never get any kind of notification I did. Their only way of confirming I replied to them is manually navigating to their own reply and seeing that it has a reply underneath it.

Overall, pretty pissed. I'm already a somewhat reclusive person who doesn't reply to people a ton, and this only contributes to a sense of isolation. I know a couple other folks who have also been slammed with that, and none of us have really found any meaningful way of contacting Twitter to get it fixed. Their support page basically tries to navigate you towards automated forms that don't actually fit the problem we're experiencing, and if you try to use a somewhat tangentially related form to address the issue, they only reply back with "Sorry, you don't appear to be experiencing the issue this form is for," without ever referring you to the "correct" form. Given that the platform seems to be on its last legs for general public usability, or at the very least furry usability, I neither am going to be too invested in trying to get this problem fixed, nor am I going to let it get to me too much. There doesn't seem to be a real avenue for fixing it, anyway.

Main takeaway: Elon Musk is a garbage idiot who has bad opinions, bad business sense, and is keen on just burning money to "own the libs." His whole plan for Twitter seems to just be to force his specific vision of the "culture war" shit the far right goes on about.
