It's a dark day for this site. This new policy bodes ill for free speech and artistic expression and it's not going to end here, they'll go after more artists and criminalize them. A friend of mine who did requests for me had to delete them because they were in violation of the new policy. The character in question is Pop Fizz. He's small and cuddly, but he's an adult character. It shows me this is targeting artists for having a specific art style, which is scary.

It feels like the admins want to turn this place into their own personal menagerie.

And this pisses me off because FA is one of the biggest furry sites and they're alienating a large portion of their audience. I've seen quite a few artists say "fuck this place!" and deactivate their accounts and I don't blame them.

The other alternatives are either ghost towns, or have problems of their own. InkBunny seems like the most popular alternative, but the site is pretty iffy given the amount of cub art. SoFurry is more about stories than art and they're hardly relevant now. Weasyl, now I have an account there, but Weasyl is just dead by the looks of it. I've not tried Itaku, so can't say how they are.

I don't mind IB and cub stuff cause thats what it was originally made for after hearing about it due to the cub purge here. But the site allows all art though human art would need to be censored. To me at least its fine cause they allow links to them u like here.

Sofurry used to allow cub art and then it got hit and then half assed it when at first they said that art is not allowed but the writtings are only to go back on that shortly thereafter. That killed a little of the site. It still thrives on stories and thats cool and all, but this makes it annoying for those that just draw shit.

Yeah weasyl is dead as a doornail but artists are using it and its kinda out of the way.

And itaku has its rules and so far i respect them but they will lose alot if they make mentions of what FA said.

All in all its a shit show that should have never have happend.

An artist I follow brought to my attention why I'll never jump to InkBunny. It seems like a safe haven for pro-MAP people and pedophiles and zoophiles. It's those kinds of people that give being a furry a bad name.

I made a decision last night to stop using Weasyl because the site is dead. It also seems abandoned by staff, and I'm wondering how the site is still operating and who's paying to keep it up?

I've learned that I hate the idea of maintaining multiple galleries, it's annoying as hell. I think that's something that irks me that because of the stupid decisions of these out of touch admins, they're content pushing people away, and pushing them to questionable alternatives like InkBunny, or X, aka Twitter. I despise Twitter, it's not an art site and it's rife with toxicity, and Elon Musk has no clue what he's doing, making the place worse and worse. Re-branding it to X and draining away any kind of personality the site has.

To be fair ANY site can house those people and IB is always going to be seen like that cause some people will try to mess with artists they never have any problem drawing art. Twitter has plenty that have been always "Calling out" artists pedos when they themselves are the real thing and trying to hide it. If any try coming to you report them cause those people are fucked up.

Weasyl and Furrynetwork to me are dead cause they were supposed to be the replacement but yeah some people can't let FA go.

I did it cause I don't mind drawing stuff on the platforms. So long as it stays fiction.

InkBunny in particular, it seems like it has that "we love child molesters, you're welcome here" vibe. I've seen some iffy content here, involving dismemberment of what looked like a real woman and Nazi themes (dunno if you've seen those images). I know no art site is 100% safe from those kinds of people. IB has quite a bit going against it.

That's why I don't think there will ever be a viable competitor and alternative to FA because nobody gives the other sites a chance. When FA does something stupid, there's an exodus and people flock to other sites, but come back when the alternatives are either ghost towns, or have their own problems. People say "let's make our furry site", but most don't last and if they do, it's another Weasyl. If there's a promising site like Buzzly that shows potential was ruined by the people in charge.

The chances I'll be banned are unlikely. But I've decided to stay on FA, it's a site that feels like home. I love the community here and I've made friends along the way. Plus, realistically speaking, problems aside FA is still one of the best furry sites to use. It's infinitely better than Elon's hellhole Twitter.

I really don't like the stigma on IB cause they allowed cub. Sure there are those that should have been reported eons ago, but its not called that. Its the same for FA cause they allowed people that were possibly raped and when they reported. This site is by no means the best cause regardless its still shoty with the UI, the admins are ass and also have a double standard when it comes to "DA RULEZ". Speaking of until a little while ago Dragoneer was allowing cub/young pregnant characters to be vored on the site so I highly doubt he is a saint by any means.

I have seen the rules before they changed that ridiculous thing, but FA might have been the start to me joining the fandom but its not home to me. I have made friends here and I will not deny that, but for a site that was to be the best it has fallen so far from grace that even the devil ain't messing with it.

From a more pragmatic view, it is when every other site is either dead, is just as bad, or has their own problems. Not to mention, it's still by all accounts the biggest and most "mainstream" furry site. Believe me, I have my fair share of issues, like the admins like you said being ass and the policy exposing their hypocrisy, the lack of meaning improvements like the ability to change user names, and going about a real problem in the wrong way. It's especially infuriating that it's been YEARS and they still won't incorporate features standard on other furry platforms.

I don't know Dragoneer personally, though I may have gotten some insight into his thinking by ArgonVile. It would appear running this site isn't sunshine and rainbows. According to what I've been told he operates the site at a loss and if anything happens to him, FA will not exist anymore because it doesn't make sense to dedicate that amount of your life to a website that doesn't pay the bills. He also stopped taking medication because he could no longer afford it. If anybody took over, from what ArgonVile's said, it would have to some insane wealthy person who likes to burn money for no reason, or some organization that'll flood the site with ads to make a profit before driving everyone away. Take this with a grain of salt, but this might give some insight into Dragoneer's thinking.

I hear you. But this is where I ask? Besides say a Discord server, what's the alternative? If you're put off by IB, eyes shift towards Twitter. It's not an art site, it's a social media platform. Many people I see on here despise Twitter. e621? It's more or less just a giant database and the community/engagement there is non-existent. It's just a place where you look at porn to fap to. Not knocking it, but it's hardly a place to co-mingle in. The other places are dead/irrelevant, or these other promising sites never gain significant momentum. FA is like YouTube in a sense, is where you gonna go? Dailymotion?

I'm speaking from a more pragmatic view. I'm not an artist, more of a writer though I do love the art and artists here. I want to get a fursuit and mingle at furry cons, as well as get some sweet commissions from some of my favorite artists here.

I don't have a twitter or Facebook or any social media site. There is itaku and it seems fine to me. I have IB and I don't socialize unless I chat with friends and groups on Discord. I get that about Dragoneer and he could have done ALOT better on the site instead of selling it and then rebuying it again. It seemed like a waist and if FA does die I don't know what to think or care to. If Dragoneer gave a lick of care to the site than the spending and such years ago then I would be caring alot about the site dying. It was already doing that from the moment the site stopped being functional.

- No Blacklist
- No file sorting
- No system to allow you to change your name easily than to make a new account
- From what was brought up security of the site is trash
- Admins not doing the job they are tasked to do with a level of double standards and favoritism thrown in.

There are plenty of furs here that can give more details, but to me those above are a few points. I like IB and I will be posting all art there and Itaku than here as the site does not deserve my art. Sure I'm a nobody, but its going to be even more ridiculous the longer the current admins run this site into the ground.

I am by no means the complete say but to me the site is a ticking time bomb with a smaller and smaller fuse and like Twitter it will just implode on itself. Elon ain't great but he also revealed shit that shouldn't be happening and so far from a few people its much better. Again I am taking it with a grain of salt but I could care less on the site crumbling when people attack you thinking, drawing, having an opinion differently from them.

I wish Dragoneer would sell the site to a company able to properly run and maintain the site. DeviantArt is owned by a software company called Wix.com. Part of wonders if Dragoneer being in charge for so long has made him lose touch with reality? I think it'll be a blow to the community if this place dies. I'd hate to see almost 20 years of furry culture and history die because corrupt leadership, apathy, and incompetence.

Those are features I wish were implemented here. Apparently the ability to change usernames has been in development for over a year at least, and I'm wondering where is it? I want to change my name without having to make an entirely new account. Why make a bullshit policy they know nobody is going to be for and fracture the community for shits and giggles instead of making the general user experience better?

I'll miss seeing your art here. I don't know much about Itaku. It seems like a hot new place for furs. I want to know if the site is easy to use, it's not overly complicated, and it's not a ghost town like Weasyl. Might be something to look into. Do you have an e621 account by any chance?

You might be right. I've seen several arts nuke their accounts on here. Probably the best hope for change on this site is to hit it where it hurts and that might bring about the end of the site. I don't know the solution to "fix" FA. Maybe it's for the best to let the place burn to ashes and a new furry site could rise to take its place.
