My boyfriend an I have been in a hotel since April 27th 2023 after out apartment flooded due to a burst water pipe in the boiler room of the building. Original post here. We have been having to pay out of pocket for everything we have needed, including having to have paid for the first few initial nights for a hotel before my insurance took over.

For 2 solid months we had been in a best western with no kitchen and had to eat out for every meal. On Friday June 23rd we were informed that the entire time we were supposed to be paying a Rent Abatement, but we had been using the money for our survival (eating out every meal gets expensive and before anyone says anything, YOU try eating off the McDonald's $1, $2,$3 menu or Ramen and hotdogs for every meal for two months and see how you feel).

We haven't been paid out from my insurance for my losses from the flood and we also haven't been able to go back to our apartment.

The new current estimate for my balance due is $2,685.00 for us staying until July 11th. They made us pay the $500 deductible on the 27th of June otherwise the balance would be higher (thank you to the kind souls who donated/purchased commissions from me for that bill).

We have to pay:
$1140 for the month of May
$1140 for the month of June
$405 for the month of July until the 11th

With all of this, we still have to pay:
phone bill of $95
car and renters of $174
all of the extra gas we've had to use going back and forth to check out the unit and for how far stores are from us
we also now have to buy groceries since on the 27th we were moved into an extended stay type hotel
