Chatter and Thoughts on Community
I've been having social media related thoughts lately. For... well, probably obvious reasons. Unless you've been browsing from under a rock for a while you'll know how Twitter is having another one of those crippling 'shitty insane decision moment' episodes (and if you HAVE been living under a rock for a while, is there room?).
Frankly, I don't have the stamina to keep up with trying to spread out to all these other sites right now. Pillowfort, Mastodon, Inkblot, the whole stack... Maybe sometime, who knows. Tumblr is an option for sure, even though I despise the idea of giving them back my user activity after the NSFW policy changes. My content is, for the most part probably fine for Tumblr, and I didn't even really use it as a primary TF content browsing mechanism even when I -was- on it frequently, but... it's hard to look past principles. Who knows.
Instead though, I've been spending time thinking about how to preserve the part of twitter that I get the most joy of -- I just really like talking to other artists and passionate TF enjoyers there.
Plenty of other websites work as a place to host and share work but what's made twitter special for me so far is that I've been able to engage in really good chatter with people who have the same passion for turning things into other things that I do. It's not really a situation ive been able to be in properly, and it just... makes me happy. To be able to go 'hey what's the vibe today' and hear a bunch of answers back about TF Ideas or scenarios and other stuff. Or find out what kind of content people want to see in that moment, it's like... being able to spur-of-the-moment find inspiration, and its inspiration that makes someone's day when I doodle something based on it, which makes it even better!!
Basically, I want to still be able to talk to people that maybe I don't know all that well, but that have this same passion that I do. But I don't have the attention span for a bunch of discord servers ><. At least not now. I don't know if maybe that means I need to stream more? Maybe if the bird site actually does explode (which I... personally have faith that some kind of good turn will come our way, but hope is really all I can have about it) ill make a discord server of my own... Dunno.
Maybe what I'm trying to say is that... Well, I'd like to be able to chat with you guys here on FA more casually too! I want to know what kind of content you like to see, or see more of. It wont dictate what I draw, of course -- Until word or dollars are exchanged I draw what I want when I want. But... don't be strangers, yeah? <:3

Hey lookit that, using a journal tab as an actual journal instead of -just- a com info board is kind of neat feeling. Oh, and being able to just ramble on at any post size too, that's kinda neat :)

FA+

I wish switching around between accounts on twitter was just a little easier, or that I didn't feel bad for not posting things on side accounts. I'd be tempted to make a TF specific one at this point to be able to retweet/comment, but I know I'd forget about it for months at a time too. I suppose cross-posting links from longer posts on tumblr could be a solution though...
Bwugh, but here I am rambling on your journal. I really like the community aspects too, and the collaborative work I've seen. I hope the community can keep some semblance of that through the turmoil.
I'll try to make sure I leave comments though! I'm more into transformation over tf (difference in intent if I remember correctly), but I love seeing really creative shapeshifting that blends forms together in a really intelligent way.
Twitter was okay for art updates, but certainly not a gallery site at all. Was pretty grumpy when people would just exclusively post there.
I think people will find different places and, to my dismay, spread across multiple platforms. I'm not willing to create an account everywhere. Similar with discord. Everyone creating their own server to follow. But how should I keep up with all those servers I would have to join? I'm already setting almost all of them on mute and just ignore them. Just can't keep up (plus I think discord eventually slows down with many, many servers)
But yeah. Twitter was decent to poke the snoot in a thread and toss a few thoughts in. Discord feels more overwhelming.
I think telegram channels work fine tho. You can enable comments for your post.
But, you should look at the transfur.social instance of Mastodon. Mastodon is a twitter-like feed. Takes a bit more effort to get started. But a good number of other TF artists joined there, and its becoming a bit lively!
