Inevitable, I guess

It comes as no surprise that some folks would unfollow after the latest announcement. This, despite making it clear that basically nothing would change for you folks in here or in any of my other galleries. Maybe they just saw the image and didn't even bother to look at the title or the description.
I know I am not the only one who has seen this, but I wonder what is it that the idea that someone trying to make a few bucks of their skills feels like anathema to some people. ("Art should be free! Software should be free!")
Maybe they feel burned by the likes of some folks who have gone Patreon-only? (*coughwfacough*) Or the ones who push their followers to subscribe with every single post? Or do they somehow feel like a "lower class citizen" because suddenly they may have to wait a couple weeks when a few others get to see it sooner, and/or those getting a larger image? I follow a few folks in here and Twitter with Patreon accounts, and I just simply wait for their public posts. (Can't really contribute at the time due to having no job and hopefully moving soon to a new home.) Heck, if anything, it is going to be hard for *me* to wait some time before publicly posting things, because I've always wanted to share my drawings and ideas almost as soon as I finish them and to as many people as possible.
Whatever. I'm not losing sleep over it. To those of you who stick around here in FA, nothing here will change. I hope you get to enjoy all the dino goodness that is to follow.

FA+

I figure as artists we should get paid for what we do. The fact that you share at all is amazing. You don't owe us anything but you post awesome art for us to look at so thanks.
If people have a problem with it then they aren't really worth knowing you know? Hopefully they don't try something dumb but you should have the right to charge for art it is a skill. As a game designer I don't get the you should make a game and update it forever because we bought it 10 years ago. Like I get fixing bugs or what not but I deal with the "this game is abandoned." crap so much I'm like "no this game is just complete and they went to work on another game."
I would support you if I could but I spend all my fun money buying plushies or other crap. I need to make the next Minecraft first.
Okay I've now rambled a bit long...Have a good day!
Edit: You know what the Hell I'll just skip a lunch and pay you for being awesome! I just looked and it is like cheap so I will support you just to spite shit people.
Joking ofcourse.
Though i do find it weird how there's literally people who don't even post art or even commission art seem to still advertise their patreon... weirder being they seem to still end up with like 20 bucks a month...
All in all, I'm stayin' as a watchful fan, so long as I get to enjoy the sweet sweet public releases~
I'm a subscriber now! You were one of the artists and writers that got me into this community all those years ago. This is my way of saying thanks. :)
Subscribed while my decent economical situation lasts, might as well support artists who have been formative over my early years in the scene, and are good people.
I'm definitely not a fan of those who go Patreon-exclusive but even then I'm just too lazy to unfollow. Feels a bit narcissistic when they pull that nonsense when that sort of paywalled exclusivity isn't what this community is about.
The ones who do it as a time release thing to help get some extra funds? Not a big deal to me.
Just my idle thoughts on it is all.
Which is why I think the approach of releasing previously Patreon-exclusive content free after a waiting period works so well, since it still allows people to see the work of their favorite artist down the line - if anything, I would imagine it would also incentivize people to try subscribing to their favorite artist and see how it feels like. Ultimately the artist has the right to do things the way they see it fitting them the most: they are humans as well, after all.
Been watching your stuff since the day I pretty much joined FA and I would rather not unfollow you. Your stuff does hold a special place in my heart as it's been one of the source of inspiration that defined some of my tastes I've ended up incorporating in, at least whenever possible.
That being said thing, Patreon itself can go pound sand for multiple reasons.
