My Mate Hiatus FAQ

Better late than never, right? >.>
Okay, here we go:
-Q: Why is My Mate on hiatus?
-A: My buffer of completed pages shrank dramatically after I finished work on chapter 4, sometime around June 2021. At that time, I took a 9-month sabbatical. As a result, right now I don't have enough finished pages to begin uninterrupted publication of chapter 5 (due to the way my workflow works, I only begin publishing a chapter once it's fully complete).
-Q: A 9-month sabbatical? What did you do in that time?
-A: For the most part I shifted my focus onto a couple other projects, such as The Offering of the Fangs 2 (available in my Writings folder) and the final chapters of a SFW book/novel of mine called The Dragonhead Chronicles (unreleased for the time being).
-Q: So... right now you're working on building up your buffer of completed pages to where it was before, right?
-A: Yeah, about that... You see, something big happened shortly after chapter four finished publication; The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom was released. I, being a huge fan of that franchise, immediately dropped everything and dove headfirst into it. So, for the last two months, I pretty much dedicated 100% of my spare time to playing that game. And let me tell you, Tears of the Kingdom is a HUGE game, with a capital H. That said, I completed it a couple days ago (and I mean full 100% completion -- yes, I got every Korok, Bubbul Gem, Addison sign, monster medal, etc, etc), so I should be returning to Farin's world soon enough... although I might pay Fang's world a visit too, as I had been missing it lately.
-Q: How many pages of chapter 5 are complete right now?
-A: So far, 36 pages. Which is about... one third of the chapter or something like that -- hardly enough to even consider beginning publication, as I couldn't possibly guarantee an uninterrupted weekly schedule with such a small buffer.
-Q: When do you think the hiatus is going to end?
-A: Hard to say, but most likely not this year. Drawing My Mate is a lot of work, and that takes time; especially considering it's something I can only do on my spare time, and I do it for no monetary gain whatsoever (which is fine by me! My Mate is, after all, a passion project). So... let's say sometime next year. I'm afraid that's the best I have at this moment.
Alright, I think that's all I've got for now. Thank you all for reading this far, and for being patient with me. I promise you: My Mate WILL return... eventually. It's going to take a while, yes, but it will happen. We have yet to see the end of Farin and Sekk'ral's love story.

I love the story so far so take as long as you need I can wait for good plot. I myself have thought about doing a comic but I always end up being like I don't think I would have time.
I am surprised to hear you don't make money. Feels like the kind of project that would have a patreon or subscribestar following.
Though first of all, let me thank you profusely for giving us such a detailed breakdown of the information and reasons for the hiatus and how long it might last. It feels good not to have to dangle around in the dark, wondering if and when the author will allow us to return to his world. For many of us here, reading My Mate was a weekly Monday ritual, and having it gone for such a large chunk of time really changes things.
I was curious about Season 3 of The Offering of The Fangs. I'm really hoping we get PUPPIES!!!! This time!!! Make it happen, Dear Gemini! You know you want to!
I know you don't do commissions or take requests... but... since this is one of your own characters, can we see a sketch or something of Dark Howl? He's mentioned to be the biggest werewolf of the grove if I recall correctly, so I've been wondering for the longest time what he might look like under the tutelage of your visual quill and creativity. Please consider.
Further, I want to say that it's high time that you release The Dragonhead Chronicles publicly. This bonafide tour-de-force of a dragon curtain-raiser is almost 1000 pages, and it's one of the greatest tragedies in the community that you haven't released it yet. In fact now is the best possible time, since your fans have to wait until January 2024 for the next installment of My Mate. Give them something huge to chew on while they wait!! And rake in that well deserved feedback.

If taking a nice long break is what you needed so that you can get back to that regular schedule, then I'm glad you've been able to take that break (and yeah, some great games this year!), and I will patiently await the comic's return :)
Even though Chapter 4 had a pretty dark Ending, I sense the one or another Surprise is moving forward to us. I dreamed about several Endings of the Story or....... some Parts and until now all my Dreams have come true but it is forbidden to tell them even if its needed. If you spoil a Dream something bad is gonna happen this is why we will wait as long as you need your precious Time Master GeminiSaint!:3

I am not surprised that it takes a lot out of you to create something like this, while having to balance that with your personal life matters. Get a good well earned break, you more than earned it. I look forwards to seeing more of the story continue next year as you stated in your plans.
