The humans at the end didn't sit back and enjoy what they had, they spread out across the galaxy and continued to follow their imperative.

Competitive survival was relabeled as something horrible and cooperative survival was relabeled in a way that ignored any other division in existence, but even so at the very beginning of the tale the "bad" deity was credited with actual creation, and the "good" one could only modify what already existed. This is about the same as claiming that Mankind crawled out of Hell and anything that happened afterwards was from a lesser influence.

I guess I just saw a different subversive message, and I'm still amused by it.
