July 2023 Check-in
~Milachu's Journal~ Heya there~
Just wanna do another lil check-in. More updates on:
- the state of my commission queue & what I plan to work on
- what I’m thinking of working on
- any other updates
- and let any of you all ask open-ended questions you’d like me to answer.
— Commissions & Plans —
Commissions recently opened and closed. Something new I've been doing is sending emails to everyone who applies for a commission. I give each person a response, even if I don't accept their submission. I also try to give some feedback on why I didn't choose their idea if I declined it. Those reasons tend to be stuff like: not providing enough details, I'm not into the idea, or I've made a lot of art for the person recently and want to give others a chance.
I'm properly stacked for commissions for the next few weeks. I hope to open again pretty soon actually, like in about 2-3 weeks.
GHS3 has been fully rough drafted finally! And I colored up to page 10. So yeah, we're coasting on that now. Might be only 1 more month before it's fully colored and ready to release! I don't remember if I mentioned before, but I do plan on selling this comic; probably on some service like Gumroad. I want to try that out - selling a comic as a complete product. I've bought art off of Gumroad from other creators before years ago, and it feels great to try doing it now myself.
Warden and I have begun making comic pages for our comic commission project! I made rough drafts for the first 8 pages around the same time we worked out payment. Warden and I actually got to hang out and that was really nice. I colored the first page of his comic for him in person.
Oh ! Fun fact!!
One of my biggest inspirations to start drawing Milachu stuff many years ago came from a comic that InsomniacOvrLrd drew called "Springtime Desperation" with a Chikorita and Raichu. It was sort-of the genesis for my inspiration and interest in nsfw pokemon art as a craft.
Just this year, I learned that comic was commissioned by PathWarden - the same person commissioning this new comic from me! It feels crazy, like I'm part of this circle of life.
And to be honest, I kinda hope when I finish making this comic, it maybe inspires some other newbie artists to wanna get into making nsfw pokemon art. :3
— Ideas —
So I did make the sketch commission thing a Patreon-exclusive reward for the top tier. It's experimental, and I figure my top dollar supporters are more than cool with me offering them something exclusive. It's worked out well so far! I can still get the sketches done in like an hour, even if the designs are something normally difficult for me, like full anthro bodies.
You can expect to see some Summer-y beach art soon! I had the idea to revisit beach drawings in the summer time because I like how bright and vivid they look. I'm also improving the way I draw stuff like sand and water.
And same as last journal, as soon as I finish GHS3, I will continue work on Pushing my Buttons!
— General Updates —
I started playing Cult of the Lamb, but stopped about a third of the way through to play Outer Wilds (not to be confused with Outer Worlds). Yo Outer Wilds is so good. It's hard to recommend to anyone without gushing about why I like it, because anything I talk about from the story or locations can be spoilers. The way you progress in the game is through acquiring knowledge. In other words, if you know what to do, you can win the game in well under 20 minutes from a fresh save. It's got puzzle solving, mysteries to uncover, space adventure, exploration, a fun round 3-D cartoony art style, fun game mechanics like gravity affecting your ship as you explore planets, and so on. Give it a look if you haven't yet!
I have no new updates on the FA upload policy. My ticket hasn't received a full reply yet. The only thing I received was a message letting me know that as long as my ticket hasn't been answered, I won't be punished if content in my gallery is in non-compliance with the upload policy.
I'll use this time to remind you all that I am posting to places besides FA! Actually, Itaku seems to really be shaping up. I heard they recently got so much traffic that they had to temporarily go offline so they could migrate to a different server to better handle the influx of new traffic. I need to start posting there more.

You may notice I don't post to my galleries as often as I do Twitter, and that's mainly because posting to Twitter is way easier than other sites. No tagging or categories of art required, just put the image, write something short, and post. Twitter is also where I get much of my traffic.
I do want to do something about this. I want to post my art to galleries more often. My first idea is to set some time aside once a week to post all my new stuff to my galleries. I'm thinking Sundays are the best for that.
— Feedback —
If you have any feedback you’d like to give or questions you’d like answered, feel free to ask. Suggestions, technical stuff, how I do certain things, if I’m okay with something, anything.
