Depends on your Patrons. Don't go too flamboyant or dead. Lately the number patreons i support has been getting smaller and small. Too much Anthro, even the porn aspects have become rare.
What i can recommend is don't go overboard on things like contests to win free art. Perhaps a contest to offer a decent discount on a commission. Stickers art is very popular now a days. Art with what looks like it has a story behind it is also popular, people are looking for more depth. Oddly enough even on IB the AI furry art is crazy popular.

Ugh, I'll not touch AI, but I do intend to do something like contests or polls. Polls seem to be a good way to offer participation.

I tend to like Patreons where I can influence what the creator will do next. Like polls, idea suggestions, things like that. Though, such stuff demand more work than simply dumping things on Patreon first, which is what most artists tend to do.

Well, I DO intend to put more work into it... But I need to find a way to get faster and more practiced with quick, clean sketches.

Looking through my Patreon subs, it seems the people that I’m a patron of fall into two categories. Either they do projects and such that are of great interest to me, so I chip a little in to help make those a reality, or they offer some kind of commission benefit, either discounted commissions, freebies, or early access to commissions/YCHs. I’m not swayed by early access to completed pieces, because I’m happy to just wait, personally, and there’s few artists who do work that really benefits from seeing full sized versions, in my opinion.

Take from that what you will, as someone who does subscribe to people on Patreon.

I usually just support for higher res, but I really can't afford much, so only if it's $1 or $2
Polls don't interest me much, cause what I vote for generally never gets picked.
