Don't give up.
make them struggle to snuff out your artistic will. Make them bear the burden of being the reason why.
Don't give them the easy way out, make them bear that weight on their shoulders... They want it, they better earn it.

anyways, in real art tips, the "Fuzzy wand select" tool (the magic wands looking icon), can be set to select based on a certain layers, aswell as certian colours. This makes selecting spesific areas easier. No need to lasso tool the area you want, when you can just Fuzzy select based on colour, and deselect excess areas :3
