STOP !!
Please, Stop with this madness,
I'm tired of see all day nothing but artist panicking and creating accounts everywhere , spaming links each to diferent sites or to discord groups to follow them
I know the situation with twitter is terrible, and trust me, I absolutely hate twitter and wish more than any of you to find a better place to post art, but Holy Fuck, this is getting out of control,
Is not even clear what's gonna happen yet, but if absolutely everybody moves to a different place, Is going to be beyond imposible to keep up with all of you
you're all just making a huge mess >.<

FA+

What we need is an stablished site, like back then when Tumblr messed up, everybody moved to twitter,t o my misfortune xD. I believe something similar could happen now if twitter mess up,
but if every artist goes to a different place, or they decide to lock themselves into discord groups, well. good luck trying to find everyone
I'm fine,
But It was something I needed to say
I did end up shifting my art on Weasyl many months back (mostly because I saw some of the craziness that was gonna happen on FA before it happened), but I didn't...like, leave places, or stuff. I kinda branched out slightly to Itaku with a few things since people seem to like that site now, but...eh.
I don't like moving around a ton, and postybirb doesn't seem to work properly for me either lol.
As for Twitter, I think Twitter has ALWAYS been a bad place to host art; seeing people want to leave seems logical, but I also just wonder why they were there in the first place. ^^; (It's just...not an art site, you know? Social media is pretty unstable too.)
I never understood that either, Twitter was Never meant to be an art site on first place
But for some reason a bunch of artists left other art sites to go there and be only in there?
I know in part was tumblr's fault, but, was twitter really the best choice? I tihnk not
At the end I made account too, since a bunch of artists I love can't be found elsewhere, , but twitter as a whole, never worked well for me at all :/
At least, I hope that after this mess going with twitter, we can finally get more artists stablished in a decent site, it doesn't have to be just ONE site, but as long as I don't have to create other 50 accounts on 50 sites and and check 1001 discord servers. I'll be ok with it
Also, due to the 'look at things right now or you'll miss out' nature of Twitter makes it so if you post some art, you can get near instant gratification of likes and comments and the like. Which sounds nice on paper, until you realize that your art will be utterly buried and forgotten again in not but a day. Unlike on a gallery site, where you may not get instant traction but your art is always there to find and will likely gradually get attention from day to day.
Social media really seems like it comes down to being enjoyed by people who don't want to wait for things to happen and want everything at a faster and constant pace. As I am now 35, I guess I'm too old to understand or want that myself, lol.
Yeah, I followed some Twitter artists for much the same reason as you. I still refuse to use Twitter the way it's meant to be used though: I just tend to, every month or two, go to the artists' accounts and just browse down through whatever's new in a lump, then give it a break for a while again. xD
Itaku seems like a good social-media-design-like site while also having a proper gallery...a weird hybrid, but I'm not surprised many people have flocked to it given...well again, addictive social media. Though it could be an effective tool to ween people off of Twitter, it's certainly far better than Twitter.
I myself am maining Weasyl for art-posting now because it's simply the most chill furry site online right now. I've like...never seen drama there, in the many years I've existed on it. Which makes it incredibly-appealing, imo, given how the rest of the net has been.
And that's exactly what I hate most of the site,, I guess is ok for other people, but for artists? is just a dreadful system, and it restrains most people of watching the 98% of their art
As someone who loves to search and collect lots of art, is just too frustrating to see everyday it gets even harder to keep up with artists and their posts,
I always wished for twitter to die and make artists to move to another place, but now that is likely to happen, I'm afraid that it could just become ten times worse D:
Oh, you too? I've saved art I like for like, something like 19 years now, haha. I have an insane amount of art saved (including yours!), and in some cases like to collect up what a particular artist I enjoy does. But it has become hard to complete such collections with how people are scattering; some people only post like half their stuff to a normal art site and then twitter gets a ton of stuff I'll miss. Very bleah.
We'll have to just wait for people to stop scattering around in the aftermath, like watching ash settle after a volcanic explosion, lol.
in part I ,understand , Fa is clearly not the best place, but,.. at least is active and functional, O.0
then it just snowballs into an accelerated death (assuming it would die), of the site, crippling everyone else who didn't jump ship and acted reasonably.
It's really stupid seeing everyone saying they gonna jump ship every time elon breathes, then 2 days later, they're back like nothing happened cause no one migrated to the super obscure site that is bearly functional for what people use twitter for.
It really is dumb. (not to mention the unfortunate souls who follow someone, just to get a 5 year art backlog dropped in their Submissions box.)
(free hugs you say?)
happens a lot here in FA aswell, every single time something happens ,a lot of people panic, they move to the New "FA Killer" thing , jsut to come back a week later once nobody else follow them
I'd love to find in other good sites to post art as well, but until we know what's going to happen and get an stablished place, I think is not worth it to create accounts in so many sites
Yeah, free hugs, but do not abuse, ok? :3
*puts back the extra hug*
Okay then :)
Twitter is not suppose to be an art site, but, for some reason lots of artists decided to stay there
I hope we can find a better place soon
I'm hoping we don't have to create 50 accounts on 50 different sites and join 200 discord servers, just to keep up with the artists we like O_0
Nowadays it feels like people are either celebrities or no one with no real "locals" especially on something like youtube and twitch.
People came to conclusions too quickly, panics and moves to a lot of sites, just to come back weeks later,
I'll be honest, I want twitter to die more than anyone else xD, but if it does, I hope it is to be replaced by a better place, not to have a lot of diferent sites and make a mess to follw artists D:
twitter was never meant to be an art site on first place, but, for some reason I don't understand, lots of artists can only be found there
If twitter is going to die, I just hope artist can find a better place, I'd hate if I have to look through 100 different sites just to keep up with those artists I like :/
It's probably always going to be a problem. It is frustrating to see the fandom getting atomized, though.
People need to get used to using multiple sites before stuff like this happens so that there's no panic rush when stuff does happen. Especially when things like postybirb exist and make it a lot less stressful to manage multiple galleries
That's actually the reason I have twitter, despite I never liked it, and certainly never got great results at all, I did cuz I didn't want to rely only on FA
I always considered posting in other sites too, but since most of those are barely active, I always felt like ti wouldn't be worth it
I just hope after all this mess, we can find some decent sites for art, it doesn't have to be only one, but as long as we don't have to create 50 accounts in different places, I'll be ok with it
this become really frustrating >.<
Welp, I'm absolutely in favor with the idea of finally leave twitter and move elsewhere
But knowing what happened before in similar cases and how artists are behaving, right now my expectations are low
Welp, If artists are finally moving to other sites. The problem now will be, if all the potentiall clients actually move with them, cuz artist not getting the same audience on newer sites is the main problem when they try to move, unless they somehow convince the mass to move, is not gonna work at all
*they twitterfy tumblr*
gaia online it is.
Mastodon socials are great place to integrate and converse with other people, since you're not having garbage pushed around by an algorithm, properly tagging posts with the appropriate CW tags and hashtags which helps for discovery, adding Alt Text to images for helping those with screen readers is a huge plus in my books. Boosting posts is hugely encouraged on the platform so others can see it, and Liking posts isn't just another reshare button either.
None of these alternatives are hardly temporary either, why bother being on a platform run by a big corpo who don't have your interests in mind, and are training AI software on you, and selling your data to data brokers for profits just so they can push ads into your face. People are too complacent when it comes to being on a particular site that they're too afraid to try something else, especially for being on places like X, its same with folks here on FA, they're too use to being on this site when there are alternatives out there.
Trust me, I want to leave twitter more than anyone else
After been strugglying on that site for years, against the damn algorythm burying all of my content, I wouldn't be more happy if artists finally leave twitter and we find a better place
But what I don't want is artists to move each to a different site, and force us to create accounts everywhere if we wanna keep with them, or, those that want to lock themselves on discord groups, which is a terrible idea for lots of reasons :/
This could be another case of artists leaving just to come back a week later when they realize most of their audience didn't move with them,
I really, reaaallly hope is not the case and we can finally leave twitter for god sake, but right now my expectations are still low
