Pretty much. I wasn't 'bisexual' until my early teens. Then I started noticing how lovely Donna Summers' was on her album (yes I'm one of those) then life sort of went sideways, but that's another pile of deer droppings (giggles). But I can safely say that I've fallen over both sides of the fence, many times in my life. Now, I just don't care. If a woman (doe?) is sexy and would want me, is of a good age, AND is single (I don't fool with married folks or youngin's) then so be it. Society can kiss my fuzzy white tail.

I think it's because more people are bisexual than they care to admit. What you describe is mature love that comes from time and also a certain amount of awareness of oneself and understanding of both the needs of the other person and yourself.

What is more often the case is simply lust. I got drunk, my inhibitions are lowered, and I ended up sleeping with this person not because I love them but because they were consenting I was consenting and yes, that person happened to be the same sex as myself, but we had fun.

When he talks about "turning gay" what he may mean is that If I found myself in a place where I am comfortable enough to express my true feelings about this person I'd hit it.

You are right, people don't "turn gay" but then people don't "turn straight" either. It is just our culture and society has placed a stigma on homosexuality that has been generational and will take generations to reverse.

I’d rather not go there as there are other religions in the world that hold similar mindset and they have their own texts to back it up. I’m simply stating my former argument that when people say they “turned gay” what they mean is that if things were more open and they were more open they would consider a romantic relationship. It’s more about their own internalized phobias and issues than anything else, but culture does play a role. It’s only been in the last 50 years that gay adults have been able to legally have sex due to laws in place that made it illegal. So no it’s not the Bible thumpers, it’s also a societal change too.
