oh nothing against silent hill 2 its really good but it just wasnt for me. idk i love silent hill 1 its my fav out of the trilogy and i also really like 3. idk.
They Hunger was a master piece and we were so close to getting an updated version. It also was suppose to have a whole other section that got scrapped.
To this day it is perhaps my favorite og mod for half life
Soma best psychological game
New amnesia was a fun little addition
Alien Isolation was a great game as well.
Lost in Vivo is great
The scariest game I've played is Dread halls. It's one thing when you see it on a screen. It's another when a shadow vanishes in the corner of your vision and you realize it was twice as tall as you standing over you.
I'm not a big fan of the "Run and hide" type games despite playing all of them. But the only two I would say you named that I really disliked was Soma and Vivo.
I wanted to like Soma, it is in a setting that unnerved me and the hype was there. However I guessed the twist pretty early on and just was dossapointed by enemy design.
If I MUST open my fancy cellar, well, Golden Light and Yomawari are pretty scary. You've probably seen Cry of Fear but even if it's corny it's still fun as an action horror game alone.
Technically, Dead Rising 2: Off The Record is a horror game, and that's one of my favorite games ever made. As rough around the edges and tropey as it is, OTR holds a special place in my heart.
Subnautica wasnt designed as a horror game, but as I have severe thalassophobia, it's one of the scariest games I've ever played. It's so bad that I've never been to the Aurora crash site, I always get to the last drop off and physically freeze...
I feel anxiety as I play, I went into a little sub and then went into commands and spawned 100 bone sharks. The issue is when they spawned in it glitches me out of my sub. I am at the bot layer, just blackness (before updates). And I just closed the laptop, knowing what the sharks would do next.
I have thos fear not of the ocean, but of things in the ocean.
There's a zombie horror mod for Half-Life called They Hunger, which I still have a soft spot for.
And I've had a great time playing Chilla's Art games with friends. Impeccable Japanese lo-fi horror.

Otherwise Sanitarium or Fatal Frame 2.
I liked Dead Space, found it fun until 3
