I'm lucky enough to share a birthday with MLK Jr. I was born exactly thirty years after him.

Some friends of mine and I had a lot of fun with the wrestling thing when it was at it's most loony, ironic, and cartoonish back around then. There were some great characters there for a while.

Hulk Hogan is actually really tall too. I mean I'm tiny, when I could stand I was 5'1" tall and there was a card board cut out of Hulk Hogan and I stood next to it and felt like a speck of dirt😑😑😑

I've got a foot on you. Don't really know how tall hulk is, but he didn't get that name for nothing.

giggles that's what my Auntie calls me. And that's true Hulk Hogan didn't get that name for nothing. But if he was green and as big as the comic book Hulk I think he'd be champion for a longer time than any wrestler... 🤔🤔🤔 maybe I mean there are some good wrestlers I guess I don't know because I don't watch it like my cousins do...

I was noticing some pics of him in the ring, and he made it look small. He is definitely a rather large lad.

Personally, I haven't watched any wrestling since the eighties when it was at it's height of goofiness.

I have only heard of some of the wrestlers I have seen those commercials for it and it looks pretty crazy😋😋😋

yeah it was all for show and staged but you gotta admit, NO ONE saw it coming when hulk turned "evil" :D

The meta aspects of it at the time made for peak wrestling. as far as I'm concerned. Staged, yes. That was the best part of it. They constructed some wonderfully ridiculous dramas and characters. I was glad to be there for it.

It even inspired a friend and bandmate of mine and I to invent an art/music entity called the "Art Wrestling Federation Universal League" (A.W.F.U.L.), which later evolved into another entity, "Art®️".

i heard Hulk went "bad" because he and the Iron shiek were going at it a bit too hard and they feared theyd kill each other.... cant beat em, join em. :D

I saw a version of Iron Butterfly led by their drummer that included a couple of young kids on bass and guitar at a tiny local club back in the eighties. They completely tore it up.

There were probably forty people in the audience. An amazing show. Much better than I could even have hoped or expected it could be.

*And keyboards, of course.

I also found the date of the show. It was at the Sleeping Lady Cafe, in Fairfax, Ca. on July 24th, 1984.
