I'm still on the fence about AI art. What I tend to do though is use it to crank out a few trial images for base references, and then throw money at an artist to draw it properly.

I don’t think AI art is completely evil, but it’s definitely a slippery slope. Using it for refs or maybe like an editing tool for cleaning the drawing or anatomy up.

I feel like it's a fun novelty, but considering where it's coming from, having the audacity to sell what's built off of stolen art is absolutely fucked up.

People are going to use it in an unethical way. People’s art, art styles, ect are going to get stolen/mimicked. I wouldn’t pay for it because how do I know that it’s actually genuine. Using it as a tool to enhance your skills that I don’t mind anyone doing, but to sell it is a totally different story.

I find the concept of AI art interesting, but in this context I totally agree with you. I had to unfollow someone because they were just buying up AI art and posting it nonstop, and it got in the way of the actual art they were making.

As others said, it's a fun little novelty, but it can't replace actual art created by an artist.

The US Copyright Office has ruled that AI generated art is not copyrightable, so the self-proclaimed "artists" selling commissions off it are not selling anything real

you have a point. Ai art does have it uses. I can see someone using it to restore an old picture of to make art from a family photo for a digital keep sake or holiday cards or if you are a role player in a video game. like wow or ff14. stuff like that. plus many of the free ai generators don't allow NSFW or they censor for political reasons, and 99% of people hate censorship.

Only reason people charge for the ai art is to keep their subscription going to produce more art. That's all I know.
