commandment one: work, damn you
So my first tablet lasted from when I was 14 until my junior year of college, and was not very good, quality wise (it was an oooold wacom graphire)
My second tablet (my current) I've had since then, so like, three and a half years? Three years, probably. The quality is good, when it WORKS.
Internet, when you have to pray over your tablet and sacrifice chickens to make it do its thing, is it time to bite the bullet and buy a new one?
I really don't want to spend the money, but I was thinking of getting an intuos (I have always cheaped out and bought graphires). Does anyone have any thoughts on them? I need something functional with good pressure sensitivity that is going to last, that I can use a whole lot.
Oh, dudes, PS, I am on a Mac. So Windows related problems are not a.. um... problem.

FA+

I can't get my tablet to work. Fucking 64-bit.
Sai, Photoshop, Oc... but when I opened anything else, it froze.
Now my video card's broken and the tablet decided to work for everything now.
If it's not one thing it's another. Tablets are evil.
Not only do I use it for drawing and what not but it is essentially my mouse as well.
It's cheap and mines lasted a good year so far and went through a ton of abuse. (As I said, I draw with it and it's my mouse so it's in CONSTANT use).
Thats my insight, hope it helps.
This might sound silly, but buying a tablet is kind of the same as buying a car when it comes to cost over time. You can get a cheap tablet and get less performance and less time out of it, or you can make a larger single investment and get something with a longer life and better performance. I dumped a ton of money into my Cintiq and nearly two years later I say it's worth every penny.
I think that you make a really good argument for making an upgrade. And anyway, if it makes drawing faster/easier/more enjoyable, then it's worth it, since I can recoup the cost of it by just getting some commissions done.
Amazon has the G3 graphire 6x9 for $199 with free shipping. I think I'm gonna go with that guy.
In any case, I hope what you pick works out for you. :-3
Kidding. I acutally have one. It's a intuos3 6X8. I love it. It has a great pressure sensitivity. I would have to say if you get a wacom tablet. Intuos is a great band
Just a suspicion.
My Acecad has such terrible drivers that it caused OpenCanvas to never launch again after I installed them.
However, considering that the Bamboo only supports 512 sensitivity levels, the Intuos might be the better choice. Let's hope that commission money will pay for it :)
