My digital art? I use textures in SAI when I color. I first flat-color with the pen tool, and shade with the brush. NOT THE WATER. that stuff is hard to control, brush is easier. I use textures on the brush tool from the dropdown, usually canvas and fuzzy. I then take it into Photoshop, put it on a texture for a background, and then use the layer style tool and the Artist surfaces (the black and white ones) and put it as a pattern overlay set on overlay (or rarely multiply) and set to a reasonable percentage of transparency. Works like a charm.
I'm predicting bruises. XD
