Inspiration when creating OC´s?

as the title says, for people that have their OC´s what inspired you to create yout characters, some of my OC´s have a bit of my personality traits but for some of my female OC´s they are based on friends i made during my highschool and college years for example Michelle, Alma and Saika :)

but some as the ones mentioned above are based (mostly) on friends, Alma for example is almost 100% de person
as for Michelle the only differences are hair color and the lack of glasses xD
and occasionally design that strikes me the most
and of course videogames and books have been a huge source of inspiration over the years :)
