I'm... So... So.. Cold.
I am very glad to see you all, my fellow FA Artists, Writers, Fursuiters and other highly creative persons.
THE DRAGONS WERE RIGHT! Red meat isn't bad for you. It's the grey stuff with little, white squiggly things in it that can cause trouble in us Humans.
Let me explain. Sunday morning I thought I'd try my hand at making Chicken Fried Steak for breakfast, and even though my attempts were partially successful, I failed to notice that the steak I used was half rotten. So, by early Monday morning, I awoke with severe stomach cramps and soon I had both... Well, let's just say I had "Both ends running." Thus I spent most of Early Monday morning dashing back and forth to the bathroom, and come the dawn, I barely had the energy to see that the cat got fed, and I staggered off to bed around 7:00 AM where I slept fitfully between "Bathroom Breaks." Much to my surprise, I slept all day until early in the afternoon. By the early evening, I felt a whole lot better, and I was at least able to take my overnight medications.
I must say that I really didn't like that feeling of "Darn near dying, and wishing I had." Fortunately, around 9:00 PM I felt a lot better, but I have decided that from now on that I will have PROFESIONAL chefs fix my Chicken fried steaks. Rey seemed to realize something was wrong with me and she stayed quiet for the rest of the night. I believe I'll be able to get "Back on track" tomorrow and start the Month of October with a final shopping spree, looking for Halloween decorations and treats.
"Peace."

I'm really glad you pulled through okay! Take care of yourself!
Fridge: up to 6 days from purchase
Freezer: up to six months from purchase.
Past these dates, the fridge is unsafe for consumption, and freezer will taste wrong but might not kill you.
Of course always check your breading/flour too.
(IMO, the best way to use up meat with freezer burn is to treat it the same way you would any other lower-quality cut: thaw it, cut it up into small cubes, then use a slow cooker to make chili or stew out of it.)
And yeah, I know how much that puts a dent into your "own cooking" motivation
That's bad.
If I may suggest? (Having suffered it to many times) Pickled Ginger will calm your stomach. Candied Ginger can remove some of the queasy feeling
Personally, I prefer pain to nausea. Good to hear you're on the mend, though.
My brother got home and I told him to keep the bathroom clear as much as possible. He took care of #1 and found me unconscious on the kitchen floor, and I had missed the bucket at least once. I went and showered and he cleaned up the kitchen. We went to the emergency services (a queasy 20-minute drive) and they diagnosed me with a 'stomach virus'. If that was the case, my brother would have gotten it too.
Related? A few weeks later, the cafeteria fired a cook for hygiene issues.
as Telepirion said, always check the smell, preferabรถly right after opening the package or container. if it smells odd or funny, or just "wrong", don't risk it. if you risk it, make sure it's cooked thorough. if it smells good then you should be safe... if it still smells funny, discard it.
also, porc and chicken MUST be cooked thoroughly, for hygiene and parasites reasons.
at work i often plunder the thrash bin at the canteen's, as in germany they have to put away samples of every dish and sauce they offer, and store deep-frozen for two weeks as a counter-sample. after that it has to be thrashed... but nothign stops me from using it then, as it ought to be fine still, or else there wouldn't be a sample in the thrash. thing is, neither of that is conserved, and would spoil in the fridge eventually, usually after three or four days. so I always take a smell before using it, and some things don't take well on deep-freezing and won't taste good after thawing/cooking. but at least I can save serious money. :P
Glad you survived it, hope you never have to suffer it again! I still can't eat crab...
