And so, the 1980's- the decade in which I was a small child- became a giant, decade-long, over-the-top, pre-emptive Cold War victory-lap. Many good things spawned in this decade, most of them cast in plastic and made into cartoons... but in 1987, Donald John Trump, son of NYC real-estate mogul Fred Trump, burst onto the scene with his ghost-written autobiography "The Art Of The Deal." And the bastard's been a pain in American culture's ass ever since.

The book was published in '87. Schwartz did it for the money. That may not really be an excuse, Drumpf was already a well known scumbag by then, but he certainly wasn't what he was to become.
