Mrs. Fenris Watches "Haunted Mansion" (The NEW one)
Imagine a movie where, even if you're staring directly at it, listening intently, you feel sort of like you're in a room where a big party is happening, and you're talking to three and a half other people at the same time so you're only half-paying attention to what's going on in the film. Sometimes you'll look up at the screen and kinda see weird, haunted-house CG lookin' stuff happening and you go "oh yeah I remember that from the ride, ha ha" or "Oh my god that looks so cheap, ha ha".

I saw it when it first came out to compare it to the OG. I personally like the old one better, but this one is still pretty good.

I really enjoyed it. The movie did take a lot of liberties with the source material, and I don't entirely like the Hatbox Ghost being written as this powerful ultimate villain type when he has such a subtle role in the ride, but overall it was still worlds better than the 2003 movie, and the references to things in the ride and aspects of its history were absolutely amazing to me as a huge longtime fan. I actually found myself surprised by some of the things that got referenced and disappointed that others were left out. Helps as well that the main plot was actually written well and none of the characters were annoying, and we got a healthy dose of Danny DeVito in there too. I wouldn't say it was spectacular overall, but it was good and fun and I'd watch it again sometime.
