Episode #100! (Pig's fetish revealed)

A totally meaningless milestone, since I don't have any consistency in the frequency or length of my comic episodes, and I have made several side stories outside of the main page count.
But still, this is the page number 100 and I wanted to make a good one.
In this one, we see some of my character's backstory. It took me a very long to finish this one, not only because it has a little more dialogue than average, but because work schedules and some problems at home have not left me with lots of time to draw.
As usual, some of my story is based on real events but changed to fit the science fiction settings. I struggled with balancing the serious topic of war's reality without making it preachy. It may be a little darker than my usual story, but I tried to end it in a humorous tone.

In every war, both sides think they are the good guys and dismiss the motivation of the others as just "the bad guys". But when it goes down to personal reasons, it's a lot more complicated than that.
It gave an insight into why some factions fight. Like this B.S. currently in the Middle East: some of it is for land, some of it is about identity, but a lot of it is religious fanaticism, on both sides.
I really like the nurse, too. When we first met ten years ago, my girlfriend was a nurse in an office building. Not much stress, but not much to challenge the mind, either. She had Masters degrees in Nursing and in Psychology, so she she applied and was accepted as a training candidate for a local psychiatric hospital. Now they have her going for her PhD. Sometimes she talks about some of the cases she has worked with. While she can't discuss much in the way of details, some of the stuff she has told me is pretty scary. Some... is laugh track material...
The nurse in my comic is based on a real person, though her backstory is entirely mine. It was originally supposed to be a one-time cameo, but as usual, the character took a life of its own.
