Am I lacking something?

Lack of emotions, literal emotions, with wooden stock faces? Poor colors? Do I need more contrast or vibrancy? Backgrounds and interaction? Have I done too much or not enough? What do I need to do with my art to make it more appealing?

My suggestion is to draw what you know and want. When your heart is in it, your fans will show themselves. Art for sheer popularity or money takes the heart out of it.
