COMM Update

For anyone wondering, I am in fact working on commissions, I just don't intend to post them until they're all done this time, just something different I'm trying. For anyone who's asked for a commission and hasn't heard back, I added the waiting list to the commission slots post (https://www.deviantart.com/hyperflannel/journal/Commission-Slots-753836588) so that it's public. When I say that I won't be posting the commissions until they're all done, that includes those ones too, once everything that's in a slot is finished I'm going to be hitting up some of the people on the waiting list to see if they still want theirs. The ones on the waiting list are orders that will take more than one slot so I'll only be hitting up a few of them and then a few more once those are done. Sorry to anyone that may have been confused by that, I've been making a point this past year to be better at communicating.
The reason I'm doing it that way this time is because usually when I post a commission, a lot of people assume that the slot must be open now and before I can even get to filling it from the waiting list I have several people asking if they can have it, then I have to tell them to wait, which I hate having to do and it's bad enough there's already people being told to wait, so when I post each commission as soon as it's finished the waiting list just gets bigger and bigger, usually until I get overwhelmed by knowing I'm being waited on by so many people. I've been told by artists much bigger and more successful than myself, as in people who's advice I should probably listen to, that that's a sign that my prices need to be raised. Supposedly it should actually be difficult to keep all of your slots full, otherwise your supply, which in this case is time, is outweighed by your demand. That makes perfect sense to me, but I also have no idea if that applies to me since I dunno if five is considered a normal number of commission slots to have, maybe they get filled so fast because there's so few of them. I just saw on Twitter earlier today that Spiralingstaircase is opening commissions and said he might take five or six for the rest of the year, and he also does charge more than I do, so that's something I need to do more research on before I make a concrete decision.
