Commissions

More and more people have been asking about commissions lately and I'm starting to seriously consider taking a few. But my question is - what do you think is a fair price?
If I do take commissions it will only be one at a time, and it will only be for pieces of the same quality and complexity as I've been posting recently. I want everything I do to be the my best instead of stopping at just a sketch or something.
Any suggestions?

FA+

5 to 10 dollars for sketch (which ever suits you)
15 dollars for ink (maybe more_
25 dollars or more for digital
5 dollars for extra characters
10 dollars for background
15 dollars for complex background
1.) Decide about how much you want per hour of work.
2.) Estimate the amount of actual time you spend working on a piece of a given quality, and base your rates off of that.
3.) Reserve the right to charge extra for obsessive details (wings with every...single...feather, or complicated tattoos) or more than a certain number of characters.
Alternate option, since you said there was significant interest: Start up a commission auction over on FurBid or FurBuy, advertise it here or wherever else you've been getting asked about commissions, and let the fur fly.
Meanwhile I'm working toward a career change so I'll be too busy elsewhere to do any art for a while.
Thanks for the suggestions though!
