Check in with you folks

Hey! I decided to make this journal as one of the things I've been noticing is a pretty steep decline in a lot of things in recent months and to be honest, I am worried the comic isn't as enjoyable for you folks as it used to be. It's something that has been hard to ignore in the past few months all around on a lot of sites. At the end of the day it would be a lie to say it doesn't bother me but I get that this is coming from something on my end.
I'm worried that I just am not providing a good comic for folks you know?
I just wanted to ask if there is anything thats up with the comic? Is it too slow or is it too visually rushed? Is there some other problem with it? I think its the time of a decline where its probably a good time to see how folks are feeling about the comic, the project, the whatnot!
Feel free to let me know (or not it's a free country)
Be well!

You're doing a fine job. Please don't stress too much.
Not with Imuas story, thats set more or less for the next long (hike) while. But perhaps other things
I enjoy the side stories besides the long hike stuff as well. It all expands the world.
Sorry if I don't have any deep advice or things to say, but you are appreciated by me at least.
So hopefully the story can get around that lack of hard driving force
one thing i'd note is that currently there doesn't seem to be an overarching goal, a thing the characters are working towards - like yeah they're on a journey but the journey has no specific goal; early in the comic there was the drop pod to get to and then the whole thing with the paradise and then imua's recovery, right now there's nothing and that makes it kinda hard to get excited for new pages, if that makes sense?
I think part of the issue is:
1. You uploads are actually too fast, it easy to burn out long term interest this way for some people.
2. Your work may be buried by other artist posting content and just accidentally missed by people.
3. The time of year can affect this stuff, as people may focus on IRL stuff a bit more and forget or miss you uploads tying into issue 2.
Love your work I hope your doing well and having a good Christmas mate!!!
1) I worry about that but I feel if I upload to little that could just as well burn things out, not sure about the balance there. I could be uploading more (I used to do 3 pages a week whenever possible) but I've been keeping it at 2 pages more for life reasons to work out income, job stuff, etc.
2) That may be a thing but I don't think thats a thing I can fix on my end, just a "such is life" situation.
3) I have been told that as well though this is more a pattern of months, since *about* august when I started working on Logáu Noon which, to be honest, I think that story was just a dud, perhaps my worst story thus far as painful as it is to say. That probably didn't help matters. But I don't think its just a holidays thing.
Merry krima!
Regardless, hope to not let you down
That feels unwarranted. I am enjoying it. It's very unique.
Not really a person who will leave a comment and/or fav everything I see. I'll just silently enjoy things most of the time.
I am glad you like it and to be clear I am not asking anyone to comment on anything really, forcing engagement is shallow, petty, sad and disconcerting so don't feel obligated to do that.
Less talking about a specific person and more talking about the general trend that has been clear since August
i think i can kinda agree with the comment that said the story felt lacking in an overarching goal right now; that doesnt bother me personally (i love more mundane and slice of life stuff, especially when the general setting is as good as yours) but i think its a fair enough observation
and another comment talking about upload speed; i think two pages a week is perfectly acceptable. nearly every comic i follow uploads 1-3 pages a week, especially being in the middle i think thats a good sweet spot.
can definitely relate to being worried about quality/reception but i think youre doing great!
[edit: a word]
I think i have a gameplan (that was gonna happen anyways) that I am gonna speed up a bit to get a proper plot going. Hopefully it'll help things get back into gear. I don't want Imuas life to be a series of unfortuneate events so I don't think It will be as dire as an eldritch memory eating god, but I hope it will be compelling with some good action and tense scenes.
Should be clear in a few weeks
Also sorry for the late reply! I thought I posted a reply here but I must have not clicked the button.
* I still struggle reading the dialect used, which can make following the plot difficult, and
* the original Long Hike and Good Morning storylines happened to involve themes I really enjoy, but that the story has largely moved on from
2) Also fair, I have plans to get the plot moving with some other things but we will have to see how that comes along in time
Still following and stashing them into the hoard of wonders, it's a really unique and interesting setting, and I love the RL tribal research involved, too.
We are also at a story point where most conflict has either been resolved or put on hold, ergo a slow phase. Something which, while needed for a story with good pacing, has always the problem of, especially in comic format, making people put the story on the back burner, so that when they come back to it they can have a lot of thing to read.
Ultimately it's simply the ebb and flow that come with the format of one-at-a-time-comic-page
1. My biggest problem is actually with the DragonScape Website, The Home page and The Basics are fine but right under The Basics should be stories. The other pages feel like homework and they may scare off new readers with so much exposition. This happened to me I had those pages open for months before I skipped half of the pages and went right to the stories, and I am glad that I did. What I am trying to say is that it should be made way more clear that everything after The Basics is optional reading for fans and not homework.
2. This is not a criticism just an observation but the whole chapter The Long Hike Past the Screaming Caldera feels odd with comments like "Starir really are usually neutral... things. They got their own shit goin on!" or What if I told you they weren't even close to the source of this anomaly? Nah they're walkin round the border" or "I think I see an Altered Beast!" It feels like you were building up to something, but then you didn't, or maybe you did somewhere and I didn't notice, again not a bad thing just weird.
3. The dialect. Please help I still don't know what yek/yekik or arir means :( .
4. Also Under the Logáu Noon is a dud, hard to get excited for another page when you can't read half of the pages. Also, no one can translate it for you if you are reading it from the archive,(like I did) there are no comments there.
2) Yeah, mostly following the lore, they can't even get remotely close to these parts of the broken reality they live in which, while lore accurate, was also boring. I was hoping to hint more at the deep unknowns that lay beyond the fold but I don't think I did well with it. Hoping to just push forward into the broader plot of this arc which I hope will be exciting for folks!
3) I can't really help much more with that, I've spent years simplifying and tweaking the dialects to be more understandable.
Yekik is an affirmation "Yeah!" and Arir/Erir (same family of dialects) both mean "there" and/or "Around here"
4) Yeah I agree, I think it was my weakest story just straight up.
As for comments, the guy who made the site isn't sure how to add them and I could bring up to him that there would best be a way to resolve that!
Thanks for the feedback
You have poured unbelievable amount of work, thought, passion and cultural knowledge into your projects,
and you have come up with some unique inventions, like those Bark/Rattle/Yep speech bubble modulators,
all the various civilizations and wildlife of your worlds, and you seem to never tire of explaining
and fleshing old and new concepts in your dedicated lore lesson pages.
The drekir are a fascinating culture, even ignoring their endearing and colorful looks.
I probably won't read your stories properly in this lifetime, regrettably, but I wanted to let you know
how profoundly significant your creations are!
I am reminded of Valsalia's "Out-of-Placers" and Betsy Lee's "No Evil" YouTube series, but none of them
could match the sheer scope and depth of your development of your worlds.
Zachary Braun's "Nature of Nature's Art/NofNA" has also occurred to me as comparable project.
Perhaps your stories may be a little too challenging for mass audiences, and the old audiences
tend to peel away under the rigors of life.
I hope you will retain a sufficient core of dedicated readers to provide you with feedback and support!
Thank you for your work!
Just wish I could truly put to words exactly How deeply I appreciate that you appreciate the comic in this way. I think its just a lack of good ways in English but thank you, more than I can put to words!
Of course Valsalia is a large inspiration, though I don't know No Evil nor NofNA but I will probably check them out!
I can definitely understand people losing the time or energy due to life, these days I am increasingly grappling with the energy to draw the comic after life, after job, etc. It can be difficult (though very worth it)
Me too! I try very hard, I just hope im not letting anyone down
And thanks! I just hope to not let ya down going forward
If you end up slowing down your story update schedule after going into the academia,
people will understand, and support you! Your current projects will be right there,
waiting for you to restart them once you're standing firmly on your feet, financially.
But your dedication to your creative work and to your audience is highly commendable!
