Important upload question!
Hey there folks, Merry Christmas eh!
Just gonma keep this short and sweet, but as I'm sure you've noticed I've been uploading all my stories as Word (Doc.x) files.
But I've been seeing other artists uploading as PDF files.
Just wanted to know, what is your favorite way to read stories? In PDF, Word Files, On google docs directly, or written in the submission description like I've done for The Jade Empire?
I don't know if I would be able to put a massive story in the description, let's say, Contractual Obligations with 44 thousand words, but smaller stories under 3000 seem to upload okay?
Please let me know your thoughts!
Thanks, and you all have my love and appreciation for enjoying and supporting my works all these years~

Personally I usually use PDF and RTF for the rare site that won't accept PDF. However now ODT (OpenDocument Text) is emerging as a universal standard.
So I would say PDF if you want to reduce the chance of people editing and changing your story or RTF/ODT if that's not a concern.
I think from now on I might switch over to PDF files for the stories I can't fit the text in the description.
I'll also take a look at ODT, just because I don't think anyone would edit my stories, and if they did, well, nobody should be uploading them and claiming it as their own haha
My main reason is, I read most stuff on my phone, so a PDF is small and less convenient. But it has the benefit of working on pretty much any device.
The other files work better in my ebook reader app, so its a bit easier to read.
For your work, I like the description text as an easy way to read the story in the same window.
If there's special formatting required, or it won't fit, then PDF would be my preference. It works on everything and I like that it can be opened in the browser rather than downloaded, as Morukami mentioned.
