Shopping Malls

Beige Hells is what I've started to call them, lol. Minimalism at its finest. My local mall, for instance. Used to be filled with plants, palm trees, red brick floors, and no less than 3 fountains. It was a tropical oasis. All of that is gone now. In its place beige tile floors, empty halls with only the kiosks left in place. Even the benches were reduced heavily in number, to where its a challenge to find one.
Food court was this awesome space with bubble shaped skylights, bright red art deco style chairs, and restaurants clad in multicolored tiles and neon. plus trees, lots of trees. Once again given the minimalism treatment. The new food court they built is a big warehouse type room. Typical corrugated metal ceiling painted white, a few panels put in place to break up the monotony. The wooden furniture at least adds some different tones to give the space warmth. Plant life is almost nonexistent though. You get a few leaf shaped lights and potted plants for your trouble. Also no neon. Just backlit plastic signs.
I want to add, this is not a struggling mall. Always busy.
This fad repeats across other shopping malls as well. King of Prussia, which isn't far from me, is just as miserable on the inside. With even fewer plants and benches if you can believe that. Except replace beige with bright eye piercing white.
There is a local mall I still like, but its dying. I assume that's the only reason it hasn't got the makeover yet.

I've been to the KoP mall but it was... 2008? The company I worked for at the time had their Customer Service Center just over the line in Valley Forge. Not too impressive.

Older bldgs. with their myriad styles and inspirations tell stories.
I for one no longer visit any 'Mall.' I've never been a fan of crowds, and with the current political BS (From the face diapers to 'Govt. Mandated Kill Zone(s)' (Oh, wait, they're cutely Titled 'Gun FREE Zone'), I never feel 'Welcome' there, an American Citizen/USMC Veteran, IN/ON American soil.
Such is the world we live in.
Gimme a wilds. Forest, meadow, streams/creeks, perhaps a river, any day!
