It kinda sucks Blusky forcefully upscales pics

Especially for jpegs (I dunno if it auto-makes everything into a jpeg, but the jpeging is especially noticeable due to the upscaling).
It's really weird that they'd decide to do that. Downscaling, sure, but upscaling?
But it sucks 'cause it means that artists' works end up at a lower quality than they otherwise would be because of it.
And everyone's jumping there off of Twitter. Not that I blame folks for leaving Twitter, not one bit, but it sucks that now their stuff is only going to be available at a worse quality. More Patreon incentive I suppose.
Also on the topic, it sucks Twitter's algorithm makes folks link their blusky account via image 'cause it makes such notices impossible to search for.

I'm still not joining Bluesky though now that they've opened it to the public and anyone can join without invites. I just don't want to be on corporate entity owned social media platforms like Twitter or Bluesky, and sticking to the alternatives like Mastodon.
Upscaling? Why? Like, I know of some cases where you'd need upscaling, like if you're uploading gameplay from a retro game to YouTube, if it's not at least 720p, it'll be downconverted to 30 FPS. Of course, unless you're doing a direct capture, it's probably upscaled anyway, so that's usually a moo point.
But for images? It might be useful for pixel art, except the upscaling is linear. And the site does seem to enforce JPEG encoding, so it's even more baffling.
