Meanwhile, here in the States, our government is locked into bitter infighting as both our major political parties are now beholden to their most extreme voices. This is what holds up USD $90-billion in aid to Ukraine, not to mention other funds to Israel, and Taiwan.

I was an infantry soldier who was trained to fight the Soviets during the Cold War, and I was in Germany when the Berlin Wall fell. At that time, I thought our fight with Russians was over, but now, over thirty years later, there's a real possibility that we may have to fight them after all.

I wish I could give you optimistic words, but I am unable, and I wish I could give you words of encouragement, but they would ring hollow.

Thank you for reminding people of the second anniversary of the Russian full-scale invasion of Ukraine. I know it has been a difficult two years for you, but watching the number of people who have helped you has given me hope. Hope for humanity.

Take care of yourself and stay safe as much as possible. There's an old joke (attributed to Winston Churchill) that "Americans will always do the right thing-after exhausting all other options". Hopefully we can get our head out of our asses sooner rather than later.

Even after 2 years, I make an effort to listen for updates. I have a friend in Ukraine whom I met on an online convention during the height of pandemic. Listening in and reaching out is the least ought to do.
