...of russian military's full scale invasion of Ukraine. To my country.
How it begun on 24th february 2022? Now I think about those day like it was a film. Horrible film. At 14 of February was my birthday and I turned 20. At that time, I was sick with the coronavirus so just on the 24th, I planned to go to academy, since I recovered. It's may be ironical, but literally on February 23, I said the following: "It is not profitable for anyone to attack, do not spread panic!". Shortly before this (I think in January) Zelensky released a video message that everything will be OK and there is no need to panic. We all believed it.
I woke up at 5 am on February 24th. Well, mum woke me up because I usually sleep like a log. The first words I heard were: "Wake up, get ready to go.". According to the story of my dad, he got up shortly before the first shots were fired. He usually gets up at 5AM because he has to be at work at 7. But that day he woke up a little earlier and went to the kitchen to drink coffee. We live in Kharkiv that stuck to the frontline so dad was attracted by a strange noise outside. I should note that I live quite far from a busy avenue, my courtyard is mostly quiet. He began to look out the window in an attempt to understand it seemed to him or not. However, a stronger explosion was heard, the windows trembled slightly. Because of this, my mother woke up.
"Looks like an invasion. Wake up the children." - dad said.
After we were woken up, we began to hurriedly collect things in backpacks. People on the street panicked, gathered and left in cars, ran down the street to the subway, and in general, a strong fuss began. Is it worth talking about what huge traffic jams have begun? We didn't know where to go, so we decided to stay at home. We haven't car to drive away and we didn't know where will be safe space.
An important part of this story is our basement. Under my windows on the ground floor there is a cafe (I won't write the name for obvious reasons, but I am very grateful to these guys!). They immediately said that they would let everyone into their shelter all of a sudden. And we went down. There were about 80 people there, from all over the house. We spent our first night here. The cafe workers fed everyone and allowed us to stay for as long as we wanted. We are lucky, this basement is just awesome renovation, thanks to the cafe. They use it as a food storage room so actually, it's warm here, there is a toilet, a kitchen and even Wi-Fi. On the first week we settled down, brought mattresses and pillows to sleep. The cafe cooked soup for those who wished and also provided shelter. They also allowed pets in shelter! Many people came with their dogs and cats. The funniest was a cat named Bubble (Actually his name is Puzir lol). He was very quiet and lives with the owners opposite the kitchen. So, everyone who goes to the kitchen is simply obliged to stroke him.
Then my grandmother and aunt were forced to move in with us for a while, because their house was bombed... Now they are in Germany in safety. I still stay in Kharkiv and planning to visit them this summer.
I must missed a lot of details, because it takes a very long time to tell absolutely everything. Surely you have read and seen many stories about this war and mine is not the saddest (fortunately).
I call to help everyone who needs moral support. Any good word is important. And financial, if it possible. Even one dollar can allow someone to buy bread or serve as a contribution to the purchase of amunition!
