DTIYS Challenge!
Hey everyone! I've been thinking this idea over for a little while-- originally, I thought I might do it as a tie-in with my fifth year anniversary a few months ago, but... the timing didn't feel right, and I wasn't sure there'd be any interest. Now, though, I feel somewhat confident I'll get at least a few participants, so... I'm going for it.
Recently, my friend Mr. Metamorphica posted a DTIYS challenge on his Twitter/X account involving a picture of his character Olivia turning into a sphinx. In case you are unaware, DTIYS means Draw This In Your Style-- the challenge is for other artists to replicate a selected artwork in their own aesthetic. In Meta's case, there were quite a few interested artists, and the results were some really interesting copies of the original. So now, I'm jumping into the DTIYS game, with a little bit of a twist on the format which will hopefully broaden the appeal and make it even more fun for participants.
The twist here is, I've chosen four of the art pieces I've produced over the years-- each featuring a different one of my main characters-- and I'm giving participating artists a choice. You can pick which of the four you want to try to replicate in your style. My selection of artworks was carefully considered, and should hopefully offer at least something for everyone, whether you like anthro, feral, inanimate/petrification, works with complex backgrounds, works with simple backgrounds, SFW TFs, NSFW TFs... The idea is to appeal to as broad a group of artists as possible. And, to simplify things, I'm also removing dialogue text and any other non-diegetic elements from the mix, so the pieces to copy are as basic as possible: just a TF'd character, in a certain pose, with a specific background. This isn't a contest, and it's completely open-ended-- no prizes, no deadlines, no pressure, just a fun activity for any other artists who enjoy my work to do as a challenge to themselves. However, as a little added incentive, I will post links to anyone who participates in a future journal entry, to collect your versions in one place. :)
Now, with that said... the four pieces to select from are:
Mona - Taken for Granite
Blaire - Heart of Sharkness (DTIYS Vers.)
Dawn - The Sluggification of Dawn Takamura (DTIYS Vers.)
Caterina - This Italian Needs a Stallion (normal non-demi horse version)
Each of the versions to be used for the challenge is marked with a DTIYS tag, and will be collected into a DTIYS folder for convenience, too.
Good luck, everyone! If you decide you want to participate, do let me know where you post your originals so I can link them!
