Story Idea: Blaziken and Sceptile Breaking Out
a year ago
Coming at you with another story idea inspired by fatfur artwork!
This time, we're looking at a FreshSqueezeDanny drawing simply called "Blaziken" - but there's a sceptile in the scene, as well. The drawing is of an extremely fat blaziken trying to sneak around inside a darkened, industrial-looking building... and failing when the rumbling of his stomach evidently alerts the presence of the guards. Well, I'd argue that heavy footsteps from weighing close to a ton would also make it difficult to go undetected. XD
In a corridor down the hall, the tip of a sceptile's gargantuan girth is visible, and a human - possibly an employee - is interacting with the sceptile before his attention is then drawn toward the blaziken.
But what are the blaziken and sceptile doing there? Why are they there? What exactly is this place?
To those questions, I say... these are formerly domesticated pokemon who were forcibly taken away from their trainers to be placed in a weight loss facility where they cannot rejoin their trainers until their 'abnormality' is 'fixed.'
Blaziken gets captured and forcibly put on a strict regimen of diet and exercise by human facility workers. But Blaziken doesn't want to lose weight! Blaziken wants to bust out of there to see his trainer again! So one day, Blaziken dares to escape the building, using its fire-type powers to try and find an exit.
Along the way, Blaziken overhears Sceptile - who may or may not also be trying to escape that same day - appearing to have an emotional breakdown, and a staff member is attempting to comfort him. Feeling empathetic for Sceptile's situation, Blaziken decides to help Sceptile break out, as well.
Whether Blaziken's stomach will act up in my story has yet to be determined.
I'd imagine that in this universe, there are super-strict regulations set by the region's Pokemon League on how trainers are to treat their pokemon. Weight could tie into this, and in Danny's drawing, both Blaziken and Sceptile obviously defy this rule which is why they were taken away. Their trainers may experience some repercussions, as well.
So what has made them both overweight? Blaziken is fat because his trainer, after realizing how proud Blaziken is of his weight, has worked to adapt Blaziken's weight into his fighting style while still managing it outside of practice. Sceptile is fat because his trainer... really likes fat pokemon. Y-Yeah... Definitely a situation where being separated from a trainer might have been for the best. Blaziken's case, though? A bit unwarranted.
Both characters serve as foils to each other. Blaziken likes being big, Sceptile resents his size. Blaziken has a positive relationship with his trainer, Sceptile never wants to see his trainer again. Blaziken's quite aggressive, Sceptile's more passive. If they break out, those differences may be a source of conflict but also present an opportunity to learn from each other about size, strength and self-confidence.
Perhaps Blaziken feels he's got something to prove to the world, that although he is overweight, he is still a capable fighter on a par with a blaziken half his size.
"Oh, I'm dead serious! Every single pound of me is serious!"
Sceptile might hate the humans in the facility more than his human trainer due to it essentially being another environment where humans have complete control over his size, and feeling forced to obey an authority figure might trigger some trauma.
"Why is it never what I think!??! Why does every human in my life act like this!?"
I think that Sceptile's goal will be more difficult to deduce than Blaziken's.
I dunno, something about putting a pair of fatties in a high-action sequence sounds cool to me! (Maybe not to barely mobile blob levels like is shown in Danny's drawing, but I think you get the idea.)
Thank you, FreshSqueezeDanny, for drawing the artwork that inspired this idea!
