What stops you from trying trad art?
Hey there, predominantly digital artists! I have a question for you.
IF YOU WANT TO GET BACK INTO TRADITIONAL ART, what is stopping you? What are your largest roadblocks? I want to hear from you! (I am planning some kind of presentation or something about how to overcome the blocks and help.)
If you're perfectly happy remaining all or mostly digital, skip this. You're good. Continue on your merry way and enjoy yourself. This is for folks who want to get back into trad but don't know how/can't for some reason.
Thank you!

meanwhile, with digital, its all in the funny beep boop machine.
Also always missed all the nice little helper tools you get with digital stuff like undo, layers, etc
I kinda also had a hard time developing the skills for IRL drawing, but thats more a personal thing
hope this is somewhat helpful
Cost, space, stress...it's a lot of factors
I haven't really properly drawn traditionally since I was in highschool, especially using a sketchbook. Which is something I'd like to get back into doing but there's just a huge roadblock for me there mentally. Every time I try to I just can't!
I also feel like the fact that my skills don't transfer over very well is also frustrating. My art might look "good" when I'm doing digital but it doesn't traditional ( of course due to lack of practice haha )
The constant purchasing of materials for drawing with and drawing on ramps up quick, while on the other side I can do a one time purchase of 100 bucks on a tablet and be good for years as well as a one time license on CSP and be good indefinitely!
No constant heading out burning gas and burning my car to spend money on supplies, if I want to I can but usually its just too expensive.
doesn't stop me from doodling on paper any chance I get though!
Also to stay competitive in the art industry means having a strong proficiency with digital art programs. So I guess most of the reasons I default to digital are practical. Otherwise traditional art feels more fulfilling to me.
"I'm a digitalist."
I think there’s a mentality that you just can’t use cheaper materials and need to spend on more expensive ones and that’s a shame. A lot of cheaper ones are just as good if not better. Heck I still use crayola pencils for a lot of stuff. There’s a few great channels on YouTube that showcase that more money doesn’t always mean better.
I love your paintings and that you use reclaimed wood and recycled paper for some of them. And you really show the top tier work you can do with those!
Additionally I don't have a scanner, so I can't get the images looking just right.
End of the day my heart lies in traditional art, I would love to do watercolor more, but people don't commission that, so I stopped offering it as an option. I don't have all the time to do art for myself anymore. But maybe I should just buckle down and do it more!
I'm also intimidated by painting traditionally, I'm very uninformed with color theory and blending, and a lot of times I've tried painting with acrylics or watercolors, they get muddy. :(
