💬Little chat
🦝Hello everybody!🦊 It's been a long time since we chatted just like that. My omission.
I was in a state of stagnation and apathy for a long time, although I continued to draw for you. I'm not sure what exactly this is related to, anyway, there were many reasons. ( ཀ ʖ̯ ཀ)
In any case, I'm in the mood to have a little chat with you right now.
💬Tell me, please, what topics in art are closest to you? In which setting or in which fictional universes (movies, games, books) would you most like to see your characters? =^ᴥ^=

Personally I've always gravitated to either sci-fi or fantasy. No particular fictional universe really, I just collect bits and pieces I like and combine them over time.
For instance, I like the visual style of sci-fi like "Alien" which is quite industrial and retro, but I prefer ships to have no artificial gravity, so that "forward" is also "up" when considering their layout. I also like the sensation of travel through space being quite slow and empty, not as much as it really is (nothing would ever happen lol) but enough so that to travel between stars might take months or years of isolation.
In fantasy I like the kind of worlds where magic exists but isn't super common. More like what you see in books, movies, or series, but unlike video games where if they have it then it tends to be everywhere. I guess it starts to feel a bit cheaper, then.
In both cases I guess my settings tend to be a bit dark. Not like Warhammer levels of dark where it goes so far it wraps around to being funny again, but usually the worlds I envision aren't really ones you'd want to live in. I think that is part of the appeal to me, because I can use those settings to explore how someone might live in a world that just isn't very good. Maybe that just seems like a useful skill to have in this day and age. :v
Honestly, most of my actual work is fantasy though. It's just a lot easier to paint lol. I've been meaning to change that lately and do a bit more sci-fi though, since after all, it won't get easier if I don't do it.
Although I like cute cozy stories more, I have great respect for the space epic. I would not want to be in the universe of "Alien" or "Warhammer" for the world, because I will most likely die in the first second.¯\_(ツ)_/¯
However, I am always impressed by the level of epicness when I imagine a little man against the background of a giant starship or planets.
As for magic, it just looks very beautiful and glitters, so I don't even care what it's used for.
I think that drawing fantasy is really easier than fiction because of the abundance of sophisticated techniques in the latter. But the result may meet all expectations.
To be honest I think I just find fantasy easier because there are more natural organic shapes lol. Perspective is hard. I am slowly getting more used to it though and even practice using blender to make simple 3D forms to use in paintings.
By the way, yes, a Blender is a great tool! I've only figured it out a little bit so far, but I already understand how useful it can be in the future.
I don't know how to properly explain it in words, but there are some art pieces that I can look at and feel a connection. If there is a drawn hand caressing another one's face compassionately, be it to show affection, or support, it's almost like I can feel the depicted hand on my face instead, and that nice, warm feeling inside you kindling.
As for what fictional universe I would love to see my character in, that would have to be Final Fantasy 9. It has this whimsical setting, at the same time quite serious and tackles incredibly difficult topics, but on the other filled with simple joy and charismatic characters and environments where you feel welcomed. It sparks in me a feeling of what our world truly is, if you peel the surface layer of seeming hatred and resentment, you will find such welcoming people that will become your friends simply because you shared with them a simple moment in life over which you bonded.
I don't know much about the "Final Fantasy", but you described everything so beautifully and colorfully that I even wanted to play.(ᵔᴥᵔ)
Though considering what this platform, FurAffinity is primarily for and about, I would not be surprised if this view was not as common or widespread as I would hope. Still, it is something that I myself enjoy, and what I will always encourage artists that I commission to think about. Don't make something for the sake of making it. Think about the piece, try to feel the individual you are drawing, or imagine yourself in the environment that you are depicting. Imagination is a powerful tool, and if used right, it can elevate an art piece to a whole new level.
As for the game, it's a very old one, from the PS1 era. The main allure of it are exactly that, the characters and the story. Personally I like story driven games, and something much more slower paced, so that you can actually enjoy the environment and the world that the creators built for you to enjoy. ^^
Now, with the help of neural networks, anyone can generate a million beautiful and sexy pictures. And every day they become more beautiful and sexier. However, for the most part, they do not evoke any emotions in me at all. A picture for the sake of a picture. It causes boredom rather than interest.
In contrast, I want to look at the artwork of cool masters for a long time, not only because they are beautifully drawn, but also because they often have an interesting plot and many small details that may be invisible at first glance.
It seems to me that many of those who like furries also love nature. This is because the animals that are the prototypes for furry characters live in the closest connection and in harmony with nature. So it's kind of the most natural habitat for them.
Beyond that it depends upon where inspiration takes me.
