Perhaps, although I'm starting to think that I shouldn't have used the word "texture" at all, since I'm more concerned with the pattern. Thanks for the input either way, though. It could prove useful.

Like roughly weathered slabs of slate with a slight contour, cobbled together to form a sturdy protective shell. Personally I always imagined them to have a constant grainy like texture, as if there is always a very fine layer of worn down stone that never really goes away, much like if you slid your hand over sand paper that doesn't have enough grit left to be of any use, if that backs any sense. Guess it would depend on living condition of said golem, such as if it is battle worn, or pampered.

Took a moment to read the reply above and was thinking something similar, though maybe more dependent on the golem's diet and environmemt, like maybe if one for whayeber reason liked rolling through water, perhaps its surface might ne smoother than one that loved in a cave.

Indeed. I'm sure such things could be factors. Although I'm not entirely sure how helpful that will be, since I'm not actually using this information to describe an actual Golem. Just something with a similar rock pattern.
