4 years, huh?
So, today is the 4th anniversary of my making a FurAffinity account.
In that amount of time, I gathered 156 watchers and uploaded 586 pieces as of writing this post... which is actually more than I expected.
I can pat myself on the back and say that I didn't involve myself in any drama on the site. I may be a sad grouch but at least I'm not the type to stir shit up, so yay(?).
Initially, I had an idea to make a small drawing to commemorate this anniversary... but sadly, my nine-to-five job sucked the will to do so right out of me. This worries me a bit since even my content backlog is starting to dry.
So, a little peak behind the veil: I usually create a backlog of drawings which I then post over several weeks (that way I can post regularly without risking complete burnout). This was especially useful during April and May since those are my job's most demanding months.
Perhaps next year I'll post something specifically for the 5th anniversary.
Until then, I'll continue filling out my bestiary and posting more creature designs (since that is my artistic niche), I'll look forward to a few more commissions (I'm very grateful to the few regular clients I have for their continued support), and I'll continue to be glad that FA is not going down the same downward spiral deviantArt is going (seriously, they are giving community awards to AI images... that is... low...but it's not the time or place for me to rant about that).
Have a good year

Good for you sticking around as long as ya have.
It is really a shame how DA fell, but that’s what greed’ll do I guess. I left a while back when the AI stuff started but it had been bad for a while before that
It was bad but tolerable, I think... though that might be my somewhat high resistance to bullshit speaking. The one thing I kinda like is the subscription stuff; at least I can get some extra cash thanks to it when experiencing a commission dry spell... which is for the majority of the time.
However, one thing I've recently noticed out of the additional bad things is... that they made it harder to report stuff that goes against TOS. You used to be able to click on a list of options specifying what is wrong ('sexual body fluids, 'erections', etc) but now you have to specifically type everything out... literally spell it out for them
Not to mention the change they made to the submission process. Stash is gone, and the submission menu is harder to read than it used to (it all blends together)
If there was a universally better option from dA, I'm sure people would go there and drop dA like a hot potato... but sadly, there is always something wrong with the alternatives... and after what came out about Buzzly, I have some severe trust issues regarding the smaller websites.
Sorry for the late reply and subsequent rant
Wow, it really sucks they’ve made the report system worse. I remember a few years ago I tried to report art theft, and they flat out told me they wouldn’t do anything because it wasn’t my art. I thought that was peak bad lol
I imagine those things will keep getting worse as they try to make it more like “art Twitter”
Yeah sadly. I’m trying one out now that’s nice and has a very friendly community, but it’s really small at the moment. For me it’s fine because I just need somewhere that can be linked to friends and family outside this fandom. But for someone looking for something more it’s not it yet. Buzzly was a trainwreck for sure… it was such a shame because it had a great interface
All good! Happy to chat
yeah... I don't even have Twitter and it's starting to feel like that...
I didn't even get to try that interface out since it didn't want to create an account for me! I tried a few times before all the crap came out about it. And, well... as I said before, I don't trust smaller websites anymore unless one of them becomes noticeable enough and builds up a good reputation, that won't change... and I would really want that to change... dA needs competition/ a viable alternative
