It's been about a week since I last updated on the healthcare situation so here's a small update.
All week I've been taking antibiotics, and got the call on Monday that my colonoscopy is scheduled for the 27th around 10:45am. So most of this week has been resting, taking meds, eating small meals avoiding calcium and iron and UV rays, etc.
Around the mid week, I started getting a bad allergy rash that's spread to cover my whole body. Which I think is from the latter antibiotic that they started me on later just before I was discharged, the Ciprofloxacin. I was instructed to stop since I only had 2 pills left and the rash has only worsened in the last day or two. I've taken a few benadryl to help with the itchyness.
Besides that I've just been on hold on the phone with doctors and nurses all week, going out to pick up allowed diet foods/prescription meds and taking it easy this week. This weekend I have to do the prep for the colonoscopy so after today I can't have solid foods till after Monday.
They said that the rash shouldn't affect the procedure and it would continue as scheduled since I'm not having any breathing or emergency issues with it.
~~~~~~~~~~
On the other side of things, this past week was slightly turbulent with my older sister. She ran off after an argument because she had been making bad financial decisions, and we were concerned she'd stopped taking her medications (mainly for treating Bipolar disorder, dis-associative identity disorder, manic depression, etc). We found she had reconnected downtown with the same creepy abusive older man she was in a short relationship with in 2017. We suspect back then that he was drugging and groomed/abused her, which is what led to her attempting to flee to British Columbia on a plane back then to get as far away from him as possible. So it was deeply upsetting to all of us that she was in contact with him again and was potentially going to put us through a repeat of those incidents.
She ended up going to the crisis shelter after a fight with my dad who was upset about her lying, and the social worker in charge of her came by and picked up her meds. We had a long talk with her social worker over the phone about the abuser in general. And I'm hoping that her support workers are able to work things out with her and keep her on her meds. It has been very stressful to when I need to focus on recovery though.
All things said, I've been otherwise okay aside from just very sleepy from all the meds lately. I spent the last few days mostly on my phone in bed, clearing out notifications on FA. WHICH I BROUGHT DOWN TO ZERO TODAY WOOOO. I nuked the final picture in my messages and it was the last one I faved. (The Swatcher pic) And aside from that I've been organizing my art files a bit and doing a little bit of blocking in colours here and there in bed.
I will attempt to stream next week probably starting Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on how the colonoscopy goes and what happens during it. Gonna continue to take it easy this weekend so I can focus on the timings for taking meds for prep and such.
Thanks for reading!
Oh.
Oh yeah. Just one more thing.
Now that you're at the tail end of the meds, things are gonna get reeeeal loosey goosey in there. If you feel like you've gotta go, chances are it's already too late. So clench as hard as you can manage and shuffle to the toilet, because that freight train is coming off Mt Everest with no brakes and it's about to ram the station.
I speak from experience, and the poor hospital orderly who had to clean up after will confirm it.
And for those who might wonder how I can be so glib about this, believe me when I tell you that a sufficiently close brush with death, and subsequently long hospitalization, will INCINERATE any sense of shame you might have had.
All that remains is stainless steel pragmatism and humor.
That said, you should be fine. You're young, and aren't likely to be on it much longer. I had to be on it for over a month, and had a LOT going on.
