A little time off of gamedev

I'm thinking of for a while, just practice in the background trying to build assets and simple mechanics I could borrow for future games instead of focusing on trying to put together anything playable now, it's just not working. Maybe by making stuff like health/stamina/mana bars, coins, text conversations, menus and stuff like that as some exercises, so things begin to click and I can move into making something more playable.
I'll also be looking info about coding language, like sinthaxes, how to use them and stuff, so I can better understand what I'm being presented with when looking at other people's code. Should I have known something about it before getting into it? Probably, just really didn't knew how to start this, I tried just learn by doing it so I've jumped straight into it and thought I could just learn as I went.
I'll be doing these exercises on Fridays. For the people that have reached out to help me with my previous project, I want to say thanks.
Maybe this year I'll make something, but probably I'll keep just practicing.
