Odd question..about past jobs
Not to sound snobbish or had a hard life blah blah.
I had dropped out of highschool and got the good enough degree (G.E.D) general equivalence degree to graduating.. I was the you youngest person there and was with people who were home schooled or expelled could not graduate and the one I remember the most after 24 years was my study partner who was a 48 year old man that was not able to get an executive position because of not graduating highschool and went to college asking me why I was there and I said "I am tired of being charged with truancy by not being in school, going to work and being detained by cops so my boss said for me to get my degree" he then rambled about how in 20 years artificial intelligence will replace him so he wants to retire fast and it would be another 30 after that I'd be replaced(kinda spooky he was almost right)
Still talk to him despite him retiring and I work on his boat occasionally.. but
I had a skill set, high skilled labor type.. I ask what skills you have from one shitty job that you left moved to another that no one thought would be needed made you the shining star of that job/career
Sorry this is more of an older kinda question but feel free to post

Wait...
Just thought of something...
Not sure it can be called a 'Skill?' Much more closely aligned to an 'Attitude' or 'Character trait'-
Integrity. The desire to do whatever I'm doing to the best of my ability, and if I screw something up, work even harder to correct the mistake, and thus hold myself MORE accountable than anyone else ever could.
There!
What many have called 'Stubbornness' I consider dedication/will to endure/see things through. Yes, I've had my 'Don Quixote' moments in life (And the wreckage of many a windmill to show for it!), but even those I consider part of Life and the ever-important learning experience of gaining some measure of wisdom.
I had to pause right after I started typing, because it hit me, when I left the Marines/Active Duty, I entered an entirely new field I had almost zero actual hands-on training in: Commercial Electrical. I'd LIKE to think getting hired-on as the FNG (Effin' New Gal), an Apprentice in every sense of the word, had something to do with my Service (Not sure, didn't ask), but in truth I think it was mostly my simple interview process. Looking those who I met in the eye, answering honestly (Even when my answers painted me in a perhaps less-than-appealing-light as a new hire), and just taking it on point blank?
(Worse thing of all, IF they hired me because of my plumbing, and I found out? I would've quit on the g-damned spot. That revelation never happened, sooooo...).
But yeah, a 'Woman' in a predominantly male field? All the 'Wonderful' challenges that presented? I KNOW for a fact my time in the Marines trained and prepared me VERY WELL for so many things there! lol I was more than willing to take the expected amount of shit/attitude, because every FNG has to. That's just life. But I had definite limits to what I'd tolerate, and anyone that dared step OUTSIDE of them, was brought up very short, very fast, and I didn't give a rat's ass what their lofty Title may have been! (My reputation was quickly established, let's say).
From 'Grunt' to Project, and then Operations Mgr., I climbed my way up the ranks based off my knowledge and skills, but more importantly, because I refused to compromise on quality/safety. If I wasn't happy about something, that something was fixed accordingly.
Another Title I earned from those who didn't really give a flying 'F', was 'B*tch,' but I wore that one proudly!
So,,, there? If that's enough?
