The journey begins... (FO4 ramble)
I never got to play Fallout 4 for very long, and at the time it came out, I didn't see much that really wowed me.
Most of the folks I talked to about it, for the longest time, said they were underwhelmed by it.
It's only recently (and because of a massive sale on it) that I decided to give it a proper try.
And no, the terrible show had nothing to do with this decision. This was planned for a while now.
What DID have something to do with the decision was seeing my roomie play through some of it (particularly the DLC with Nick), and my loverskunkie also playing through it and seemingly having a good time with it.
So now...it's my turn to venture through the game and see what I think of it.
I have my experience from 2, 3 and NV backing me, but I've heard 4's setup is different (no skills, for one), so this should be...interesting.
I'm leaving this journal here in case you all don't hear from me for a while. This will be why.
Well, that, and work and stuff.
Feel free to offer some helpful hints and cool stories of your experiences, but please try not to spoil anything for me.

on 4 you can increase your S.P.E.C.I.A.L skills with each level up so I'd advise you getting a high Charisma, a lot of caps and avoidance of violance by doing so. You can even get a free S.P.E.C.I.A.L point by finding a book under shaun's crib in your home!
Also a good idea to like, early on save some perk points since like, a lot of random weapon, and armor mods tend to be locked to certain perks. Many a times I got a good gun and went to mod it only to find the mods locked behind like "SCIENCE 2" or something like that.
But really, I'd be curious to hear what build and what stats you decided to go in with!
Before I started playing New Vegas and got absolutely sucked into it I was doing a Melee run in 4, a whole different beast and really fun as well, gotta eventually go back to it X3.
The past few minutes or so, though, I've just been cleaning up the area I started in by scrapping fallen trees and things like that. I tried readjusting/fixing this broken fence between two homes, but it doesn't seem to want to line up correctly (as it would be before the big bomb dropped), so now it's just frustrating me. It'd be nice if some of this stuff snapped to a grid on the ground instead of just hovering wherever when you move it around.
And I'm unsure about snapping on building stuff, on 4 I mostly built stuff out of quest needs. AND AH!
On that topic, another good tip. Gather Junk. GATHER JUNK! Whenever you clear up a building or whatever, grab all the junk you can and run back to sanctuary and store it in your workshop, it being stored in your workshop gives you materials to whatever you wanna build in all your weapons, armor and work benches! There is even an option to like "store all your junk". Alluminium is one of the rare materials and like, power armor and robots always require a lot of alluminium, so grab all the alluminium cans you come across.
It's also good early on to like, build a water purifier, but on the water tab, the big ones, they will like, send a lot of purified water to your workshop, they're great for healing but also like, easy caps right there, nice constant income!
ALSO ALSO, back to your pre-war building, you can find a magazine that allows you to build more pre-war stuff!
