Boomer ramble about gaming [Also gamedev update]

I wish games were still being made like they were until the PS2 era, where most games were single player focused with multiplayer as a neat feature, with a bunch of content worth replaying to get to see it all. Back then games actually rewards the player through gameplay, nowadays most games are quite shallow, padded with Acchievements that gives you nothing gameplay wise, when before you could get an ability, weapon or at least a cosmetic that did nothing but make you look silly... But it was something. So far the closest I get to this are Indie games and small studios, which I'm starting to look more into it.
Now most games seems to be focused on online multiplayer, and my issue with is that I've got no friends to play with and I can't afford to keep hopping each new hot game, by the time I get it, nobody wants to play because they all moved to the hot new thing that they will play for a month or two.
Just want to voice some pet peeves, tl;dr, I miss when games were more single player with unlockables and little game modes, compared to today where most are online-multiplayer with little to nothing to unlock since everything you need to pay for with "micro"-transactions =w="
Anyway, been in a slump since gamedev didn't worked quite so well last month, turns out there is much to learn to make the game than just actually doing it, at least now I got a better idea about coding language and I've got a better idea on how to actually learn and in the near future I can put out a game. The idea I had was maybe would be better do some exercises like, get some mechanics and assets to work individually, and once I get enough of them (for one of the games I want to make at least), I could borrow the codes I've made for the exercises and put it into the game, and knowing better about programing, I can actually get what the code is doing and what goes where. I think this way would make it easier to make future games... 2D games for now at least, I'm in no hurry to make a 3D game, cuz I don't know how to make anything in 3D yet.
I'll get back to it once I'm done with the commissions, maybe by the end of the year I'll have enough coding experience and assets to put something together on the next? I hope so~
I often find myself going back to old classics because the companies that made them are either gone now or replaced everyone with soulless CEOs more worried about shareholder value and making lines go up as much as possible than making the good games they used to.
Games now seems more of a investment, buy them now and wait a year or two until the game is finally playable after the patches, or has enough content worth playing. I almost bought PayDay 3 early launch but oh boy... I'm really glad I didn't, but it was sad to see how things went down, at least now things seems to start to look up. I hope they manage to bounce back like No Man's Sky.
What do people expect when they buy something from a company that is KNOWN to release shit, and then complain that it's shit?
I don't get it man, I really really don't.. I hate that everything is so focused on money, no longer on passion
